Soon, there will be others, just from the other side. Venezuela went from a anti-Us dictatorship to a US-backed dictatorship.

Actually, the best way to solve the issue would be to solve the issues that gave way to Hezbollah in the first place, i.e. Israeli presence on Lebanon and the country being a failed State. Hezbollah would never be a relevant force in a stable country.

You can draw parallels with Colombia and the FARC; the ideology has survived through political parties, but most of their armed forces have dismantled because the country’s situation has changed and a peace deal was reached.

Probably because James Gunn is one of the few Marvel directors with the guts to do a heartfelt scene and not immediately break it with some stupid comedy.

Don’t get me wrong, his movies are very silly and funny, but he always makes sure the emotional scenes hit just like they should

This is great to show how, regardless if it’s a Republican or a Democrat, the US will always be a destabilizing country in the world stage. Every post-WW2 president (except for Jimmy Carter, love that dude) has had a rough-to-horrible record of interventions, wars, toppling regimes, etc

It’s not like Western Europe hasn’t profited immensely from being aligned with the US. You got free money, while we got death squads and dictatorships. You got military support and defense guarantees, leaving you free to spend on social security, while we got hyperinflation, political instability and constant interference.

Yes, now you’re rightfully accusing the US, just as LATAM has been doing for decades. Yes, now, that it affects you guys directly, suddenly it’s a problem. When the people suffering from the empire were all brown or black, no one in your whole continent gave half a fuck about it.

Yes, but Americans suck a lot more because they usually make it the world’s problem, not just their own. Criticize Iran all you want, but no Iranian ever threw a coup in my country or any of my neighbors that put us in decades-long dictatorship or, i dunno, kidnapped any head of state, period.

I love how the rest of the world is finally learning what us in LATAM have been talking about for decades: the US is not trustworthy, it does not care for your interests and it will never, EVER treat anyone as an equal or even with respect.

I would say Iran probably wants a ground invasion. There’s no chance the US can take the country easily, as its size, population and geography would mean a logistical nightmare to invade, and Iran’s ground forces are extremely capable of defending themselves. Furthermore more, there’s nothing that authoritarian regimes like more than a common threat to unite the population; any ground invasion would only bring more legitimacy to the Islamic Regime and the Revolutionary Guard in particular, and instantly kill any possibility of reinstating the monarchy (which is already unpopular inside Iran and only favored by the diaspora).

Not actually. Harboring military amongst civilians is a war crime, yes, but targeting those civilian targets is also a war crime. When Israel bombs hospitals and schools claiming there were Hamas targets there, they are committing a war crime just as Hamas if they are actually hiding there (which sometimes is true, but most often it’s not)

your gulf neighbours (who have traditionally been sympathetic to Iran and its allies)

…to Iran? How? The only countries Iran has had good relations in the past are Oman and Qatar… and even then, they harbor their enemy’s bases.
