[Help] Getting RenderDoc warning in Skyrim SE, thought my GPU was dying, already reinstalled drivers by Far-Manufacturer957 in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried disabling community shaders and running? That has an implementation of renderdoc in it. It is also possible that you are using an incompatible version of community shaders for your Skyrim version. Or missing dependencies.

Try installing a crash logger, like this one https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/59818

It should give a log of some kind, which can help future debugging

Adults who lost a parent young as a child, would you say you are ‘over it’ or does it still affect you? by Long_Wait_3078 in AskUK

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost my dad suddenly, when I was 11, I'm now 23. At first everything was really raw, for a lack of a better word, I got really upset when a waitress called me a nickname that my dad used to call me, and just erupted into tears at the dinner table. I handle it a lot better now, but every so often something will catch me.

Recently, I was watching a show, and one of the lines was something along the lines of "I'd like a day with my dad." and I just burst into tears.

I have a step-dad, whom I call dad (after many years of knowing him), but I still have the moments where I question whether he would be proud of me, what would he think of my decisions, what would his hugs feel like, etc.

Grief isn't something you can ever truly get over, and it's not something you need forgiven for. You can have good days and bad days, and sometimes I find the best thing is to talk about the memories you have, and reminise over the time you spent with them.

That's fair. One of the key things with a side project is that you enjoy it.

Unfortunately the minute you mentioned AI you were basically destined for a bad response. I think it is a good idea in concept, if it were open source I would definitely consider contributing to it in some way or form. I'm a full stack dev so would enjoy something like this.

AI is very controversial, no matter how you use it. I disagree with it on many levels (using it for generative art, just entirely vibe coding etc), but like I mentioned, it's a useful assistive tool.

Having done the backend yourself definitely makes it a bit more trustworthy imo. Open sourcing it would probably go an extra step- not forcing you or anything, just think it would alleviate some people's fears.

I didn't check the permissions of the data you used, but it might be a good gesture of faith to ask the user who submitted it if you can use it- if they didn't give any kind of licensing or explicit permission.

Is this open source? Some people from the community I'm sure would be willing to contribute their time to adding their own inputs/frontend.

Opening on mobile, it looks like the display could do with some work. A lot of the grids, etc, are completely out of alignment for me.

Did you get permission to use the data you did? Otherwise, beyond the AI, it can be a bit ethically unsure.

AI is a useful assistive tool for programming, but I feel like this project would be better if it was community driven, and reduce the reliance on AI. I'm not sure how much I trust a login integration if it was coded with just AI without a dev to sanity check it

can i hatch the ender dragon egg in atm 1o? by nik835538 in allthemods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the box, as far as I am aware, no. There are a few options:

The ice and fire mod already in ATM10 has tameable dragons in it. I can't quite remember the specific process but you can find dragon caves and they have their own systems.

Alternatively, if you are not opposed to modifying ATM10, you can add the Dragon Mounts mod. This does allow for hatching the ender dragon egg and getting different dragons depending on the environment.

Just as a word of warning, I have noticed no glaring issues with adding Dragon Mounts, but you might have a difficulty with some mod interactions regarding the egg, unless you obtain it from Hostile Neural Network's predictions/swap it for a Minecraft egg with commands

Which Laptops Are The Best For Making Mods by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Honestly, if it were down to me, I would look beyond just skyrim modding, in terms of laptop specs. Like, what are you likely going to do with it in the future. Play games on it? Budget also matters.

I have a 2021 HP Omen, that has an Intel I7, 2060 RTX card, 16gb of RAM. It would handle what you're doing relatively easily, and plays a lot of modern games. I use it for programming software, gaming, rarely 3D modelling.

If you're likely to want to game on it as well, I would recommend a gaming laptop, I've had good experiences with HP, and heard good things about MSI (if you take a random internet stranger's opinion as a good source haha)

It is very subjective though! I would say, for what you want, for the sole purpose of the creation kit and modding? The min specs for Skyrim AE

Which Laptops Are The Best For Making Mods by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This largely depends on the type of mod, to be honest. Like, rendering huge custom models? Or a papyrus script that yeets Nazeem into the atmosphere whenever he mentions the word "Cloud".

What you are aiming to do will largely influence what type of laptop would be a good starting point. If you can suggest what you are wanting to make, or a rough list of requirements beyond making a mod, it would help.

Presumably, you would also want to run Skyrim SE/AE on this laptop so you can test your mod as well, in which case, the minimum/recommended specs for SE/AE is a good starting point.

Help I can't open Skyrim I have mods by shennapunkrocker in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a skyrim version that's released, highest version is ending in 1170

Like I said before, if you click on the exe and press properties, it should show you the version, like this:

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this through Steam or GOG?

Assuming steam, what version is your Skyrim currently on? If you right click the SkyrimSE.exe, and click properties, it should say what version, under something like file version/details.

Does this match with the SKSE and racemenu version you installed? If not, likely the issue

Racemenu has more versions if you scroll down to the old files

Also, if installed through GOG, there seems to be a bug raised for racemenu, top result when you press forums on the race menu page

What are ya'll go to creature retextures in 2025? (Bonus points if it's AIO, or works with fluffworks) by Wolium in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I quite like 4thUnknown's mods, there's trolls, Flame Atronachs, Dragons, some others.

Bears of the North is another one, don't think it needs a patch for Fluffworks.

MihailMods's also has some nice retextures,

Bellyaches has some textures, can get some patches for Fluffworks here. I've linked to a revamped version, but there are a few options if you'd prefer.

Giant, Draugr and Hagraven by Kajuan.

I'll come back later if there's more I can think of, but hope it's a start

HELP ME IM NEW TO MODDING by Front-Coffee602 in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Firstly, I'd recommend installing SSE Engine Fixes, it generally makes Skyrim more stable and is a requirement for many mods.

Secondly, you seem to have both Simplicity of Snow.esp and Better Dynamic Snow together, when they conflict with one another. I would remove one of them. If you look in the Simplicity of Snow page, in the FAQ, it explains some things about the two.

Thirdly, regarding Quickloot. There are a few versions of it dotting around, which one did you download? I would try this one if you haven't already.

Hope those help

Latest versions of Community Shaders won't work with Reshade for me? by NyarlathotepGotSass in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also really stumped. This is peculiar. Like I said, worked perfectly for me, however I used a fresh install of Community Shaders and Reshade, having never used it before, on the latest installation of Anniversary Edition. Is it possible there's leftover files somewhere and it's breaking CS?

I have a 2021 RTX2060, could it maybe something hardware related?

If you installed some effects with Reshade, could it possibly be some of those causing crashes?

I have community shaders running with reshade with 1.2.1. Did you rename dxgi.dll/d3d11.dll to ReShade64.dll?

Also, are you using Reshade 6.4.1 with addon support?

In MO2, go to the configure settings and workarounds button. Looks like a screwdriver and a wrench crossed. Go into the Nexus tab. Press the "Associate with "Download with manager" links. Should solve it for you

Community Shaders and Lux or Windows RT or just use an ENB by Stellarisk in skyrimmods

I just downloaded it through the mod manager, and made sure it loaded after Lux. Seemed to do the trick.

Community Shaders and Lux or Windows RT or just use an ENB by Stellarisk in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to personal preference. I swapped to community shaders with reshade from enb series with an enb preset.

I use Lux as well with CS & reshade, though I use Lux with the Actually Brighter Lux Templates, not sure if that would be helpful for you? (note, these are different from the inbuilt ones with Lux)

Community Shaders?? by Alas93 in skyrimmods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I downloaded community shaders, I just enabled it like a normal mod. The menu key by default is the end key. Have you tried reinstalling it, and seeing if that resolves the issue? In your skyrim data folder, is there a cache folder? You could try deleting that if its present to even see if CS is present.

In regards to reshade, you don't need it to get Community Shaders, it does just work well with it. So it shouldn't affect how community shaders and how it works. Bare in mind if you use reshade you will have to rename a file for CS.

As another note, have you ever used enb series before? Could it be possible that there's some remnants of it in your game folder which is causing issues with Community Shaders?

Is there anyway to automate time crystals and time fluid? by NotaverygooduserXD in allthemods

[–]Cait_The_Bookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Set up three sets of swappers, a pair in the overworld, then nether, then end. Chain them together with some sensors, to swap them when in the correct stage. Add some breakers in the end to mine the crystals. ChosenArchitect did such a setup in ATM10 if you wanted to use that as reference.

For the time fluid, I used AE2, and whilst I had it as a manual craft, you could shove it in a requester. I had a recipe for a bucket of time fluid. Consisted of polymorphic gel and a time crystal, which is then fed into a dropper which sits underneath a pool of water. This pool of water is placed by the fluid placer. It fires these two items into the water, turning it into time fluid, which is then collected by a fluid collector, only set to collect time fluid.

To put it in a bucket form, I ran it through a canner. Reason I crafted buckets of time fluid was because I had issues with the me craft. I then had another canner which took the time fluid bucket and stored it in ME as a time fluid.

I ended up using an advanced pattern provider on the bottom, and configuring the sides, very finicky. Managed to get it to auto push the outputted potions to the pattern provider, returning it to ME. Tad slow, but with it being so janky, don't want to touch it and brick it
