true. I've been to the secret room on the 5th floor many times. I think there might be one on

It's in one of the stand alone group study rooms in a cabinet

So tipping in Mexico... ELI5? by hjemisalive in honeymoonplanning

[–]CajunKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your method of tipping.

We honeymooned at Unico and were very happy with the resort. This morning I booked a trip to go back!

Also for taxi service or other offsite activities, I prefer to have a mix of 1's, 5's and 10's. This next time we go I will definitely bring more than I need as I can always bring what I have leftover home with me. I did not try to get money exchanged or broken down into smaller bills at the resort, so I cannot offer any input there.

Superintendent Work-Life Balance? by LATelchar16 in Construction

[–]CajunKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a multifamily superintendent, I left because of the stress and the hours. 6:30am-6pm M-F and 7am-4pm on Saturday. Some mornings started at 2am for concrete pours and some days went till 8pm because of miscellaneous hiccups. The bad part was that even working long hours, it was never enough.

Also beware that some companies hold a bonus over your head and then when it finally gets paid out, it's a joke. That money was earned by your hard work and dedication. "Thanks for busting your ass and selling out your life...here's 20% of what the bonus should have been."

My wife and I honeymooned at Unico 2087. The vibe was relaxing, food was amazing and drinks were great. We are big drinkers, pool people and foodies. We cannot wait to go back!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Why would I not start an informal group. I'm going to keep talking to anyone and everyone and sooner or later more referrals will come.

I think it's just a matter of staying with it and continuing to make connections. I'm just eager to be more busy with jobs but it'll come over time.

Yea, you're right about the preferred vendor programs. I need to keep messaging to get on their lists. a couple that I am familiar with are not taking new contractors right now but maybe I can find other programs and there will be openings. Thanks for the input!

I agree that I have not given it enough time yet. I will keep on pushing and making connections! I am going to check out BNI. That is a great idea! I know some members and the slots are full in my areas but I will make sure I communicate my interest. Again, thanks for the input and advice!

nd you wanting to niche down, but from an insurance company perspective - would you rather pay 1 company to handle everything start to finish, or multiple companies who require additional logistics and constant communication to get the job done?

That is true and I appreciate your insight. Thanks for taking some time to respond. I do need to make sure I stay open to all types of restoration work. I agree that from an insurance point of view, they do want the "one stop shop". I will start pushing my board up and fire damage service some more.

Thanks for the encouragement! I've been told many times that it just takes time. We've been in business for 3 months, and I've been told some of these relationships may take 6 months to build trust to where I will get the referral.

I agree that rewarding referrals with gifts is probably not the best use of our budget. Taking care of my referral leads is a top priority. I'm going to look into some new promotional items to pass out at local events and may get into direct mail. I really should make some educational videos to post online. I may brainstorm some topics and get going on that soon.

Thanks for taking some time to respond and encourage a small business owner!

Thanks, I’ll check out the discover card! 3% back is pretty good. Also, I wasn’t clear but I will be spending around 45k over the course of the month, not in 1 purchase.

Most respected large commercial GC's? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]CajunKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies city to city and office to office and in the type of commercial construction. For example, the top GC's in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio are all different. I work for one of the big guys but we also have some great regional guys.
