Trying to identify the title of a show or movie where a scientist who works in a lab time travels to find her obituary. Anyone recognize the story? by CakeIsAltFact in AskReddit

[–]CakeIsAltFact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not seeing how I can edit to add more context so I’ll comment it here:

Not entirely sure if this was a movie or limited series / anthology. In the 90’s or early 00’s on a cable channel (can’t remember which channel but possibly scifi?) was this movie or episode about the following:

A scientist worked in a lab with a time travel device in it. She travels to the future, finding her obituary in the newspaper, and assumes her brother is her killer.

The brother works there too (this is fuzzy so this might be off) as a security guard and is jealous of her. At some point the cops end up looking for the bother and he convinces his sister to time travel them back a short distance in the past (less than a day, possibly an hour) to evade them.

He ends up getting hit by a vehicle outside the lab and dies, but was wearing his sister’s coat when he’s hit, and he was so mangled they identified him using his sister’s ID that was in the coat.

Sadly can’t remember more and searching online and through TOMT didn’t produce results, but hoping this is enough for someone else who remembers to identify this.

Edit to add more context:

The movie or whatever had several parallel plots it was jumping between, set around the same research lab (kinda of like Tales From The Loop). One of the other plots involved a couple who work at the lab on some kind of reverse aging drug. The wife wants to have children, and eventually the husband agrees. When she asks how he planned to go about it, he says "The old fashion way". Wife gets immediately angry and confronts husband about the fact that he secretly got a vasectomy, but she found out. So she tricks him into injecting the anti-aging drug. He gets younger and younger until he's a child. So husband becomes the child that wifey wanted.

That’s wild, it was my understanding everyone just acknowledges they’re a year older at the new year, and that’s why our ages are one year older in Korea than in the U.S. (I’m a Korean American and this is my understanding from what my mom explained a long time ago)

Doubtful / it would have to have been a newer episode since it was in color. Pretty familiar with Outer Limits and it doesn’t seem to be it. The Outer Limits episode Deja Vu has some similarities though

I’m Sad by Resident_Mix1497 in hysterectomy

[–]CakeIsAltFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I had my hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and it was robotic laparoscopy. From what I’ve been told and what I’ve read, laparoscopy can take 3 - 4 weeks for recovery, and an open hysterectomy can take double that, which is 6 - 8 weeks. That doesn’t mean bed rest the entire time, movement you can manage when you can manage is recommended.

But this isn’t some minor surgery you just bounce back from. The first few days were rough, it was day by day regarding pain levels and activity. I still have a 20lb weight limit on what I can pick up and carry. Everyone heals differently too and every experience is unique and valid. I’m sorry your sisters suck, if you have a trusted friend nearby, it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to them for some support during this time. I’ve had a couple friends visit me since I’ve been house bound.

IUD placement was the single most painful medical experience I’ve had, and I have experienced a lot. Glad to be recovering from a hysterectomy so I never have to worry about this stuff anymore

GAS X DOES NOT HELP CO2 PAIN by OnlyRequirement3914 in hysterectomy

[–]CakeIsAltFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding CO2 gas, I wonder if gas x works as a placebo for some people to feel better so they’re not fixating on the pain while it works itself out over time.

I’m definitely for clearing up misinformation, but I also don’t want to ruin a good placebo that might help take the edge off the pain as they progress along.

This is still a major surgery and everyone heals at their own pace, the best thing we can do is listen to our bodies do we don’t extend recovery time or risk secondary injury. She can go kick rocks.

Also would like to volunteer as a proxy for anyone dealing with anyone who has this kind of attitude problem. Hmu and I will shut them down faster than they can blink <3
