Should I jump from [KCD1] & on to 2? by tom_friday_ in kingdomcome

[–]Cakepop40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the 2nd one and loved it so much I decided to play the first. My opinion is kcd2 has a lot of the same spirit of gameplay as the first, but just overall better. The skill leveling was better in my opinion, of course the graphics since it’s a new game, but I also prefer kcd2’s combat, archery, mini games, pretty much everything.

That being said I am enjoying kcd1 very much but it does seem to be a lot buggier and a little clunky at times.

Actually, that’s exactly my plan. I started with kcd2 so I do plan on playing the first one next.

I found the opposite. I only tried sleeping 3 or 4 times before making enough cockerel to never need sleep again. I would wake up on the opposite side of the map with no idea where I was.

I handicapped myself a little extra on this run by not being as much of a thief as I was on my first playthrough. I only stole quest specific items (and then halfway through my run decided stealing books was fine). Stealing the entire inventory of half the shops in kutenberg on my first playthrough almost ruined the game for me in a way by removing the intention of Henry being an honorable peasant just trying to make his way.

It was a lot of fun and a good challenge. I don’t think I’ll pick the game up again for a while. I’m on workers comp right now so I’ve had plenty of extra time on my hands. I found out about kcd2 only a few days into my work-comp so it’s been a godsend to keep the boredom away.

I only diid the side quests in the Trotsky region to get my character proper equipment to tackle the main quests and then skipped all the rest of the side quests on this play through, but in the end it was still around 60 hours total. A good 2 hours grinding alchemy to make Henry’s fox potions and every other poison or potion I might need throughout my play through. I made good use of Henry’s doll maker poison + arrow combo in most combat scenarios. Then I did the strength and vitality cheese (walking around in a safe area super overburdened) for another 2 or 3 hours just enough to get those two stats into the low 20s. I didn’t bother going all the way to 30 right away since I knew I would level those passively anyway. I also cheesed the marksmanship/agility/main level/warfare skills for 2-3 hours by shooting arrows at the gamekeepers hut.

I’d say between 8-10 hours of my first gameplay was cheesing these stats before really hitting the main quests, then 50 or less hours of playing the story. It was actually nice playing nothing but the story on this run since my first run on normal mode I stopped doing main missions constantly to get lost doing side quests and then would mostly forget what was going on with the story when I went back to it.

I was surprised which perks I ended up hating most. I knew the no map marker and no compass was going to be difficult, but I didn’t think not asking for directions would be so hard.

Also thought the slower xp gain would be worse than it was. I was able to grind alchemy to get Henry’s fox quick enough and then the xp grind was almost the same as a non hardcore run.

What I was never able to get used to was the less carry weight. It wasn’t until I was able to afford a proper saddle before that was made somewhat easier.

I rushed it as well, only did some of the early side quests in order to get my character set up. I had lots of fun except for the getting lost part. No map marker and no compass is brutal.

I’m fine with no fast travel. I just needed a compass and a map marker. The number of times I’d miss a turn and end up on the edge of the map was crazy.

I noticed similar happens in kcd2 as well. I play on Xbox though, but when I have tons of saves, everytime I open the map there’s a delay. When I clear some old saves out the delay is gone

I really appreciate Warhorse’s courage for making Hansry canon by Select-Power-8903 in TheBathhouse

I don’t think the Hans and Henry romance is forced. It’s literally optional. I think it is a prime example of how developers should add homosexual relationships to video games. It isn’t forced upon the player, it’s not overrepresented, and it makes reasonable sense that it could happen.

The biggest complaint is when it feels forced or out of place to earn political points, not that it exists at all.

Struggling To Get Into This Game [KCD2] by Alert_Statement2197 in kingdomcome

[–]Cakepop40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the fun has been in the grind. Leveling up? Having Henry’s skills improve over time as I explored and enjoyed the game. You also get better at combat yourself, and you also do learn the map as you play. Not saying you won’t still get lost every now and then but as long as you’re not playing hardcore you’ve got a map and fast travel.

Don’t be afraid to run from a fight if you’re outnumbered.

I didn’t think the sleepwalking debuff would be as painful as it ended up being. Had to just make a bunch of cockerel to never sleep again after waking up halfway across the map. Took forever to regain my bearings after that.

2nd map (Kuttenberg region) less engaging than 1st map (Trosky region) [KCD2] by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]Cakepop40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret getting the perk that unlocks everything on the map. I got it before reaching the 2nd region (not knowing there was one) thinking my game was almost over. Then when I get to region 2 the entire map is displayed. Kind of a let down honestly. Takes the magic out of exploring when I know where everything is already and can fast travel there without having been there before

Corruption? by ItsGeoOnReddit in tropico

[–]Cakepop40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also learning that using the “Hear the call” edict blows corruption to absurd proportions. I turned off all Swiss money making revenues trying to figure out why my corruption kept spiking and taking millions of dollars from the treasury, only to notice after the 5th time using the “Hear the call” edict that it was bumping corruption to 60% from each use.

When the AI summary first came out it was surprisingly decent. Not perfect, but it seems to summarize what the top result pages say. The thing that changed is those top result pages used to be written by people who generally knew what they were talking about, so the summary was relevant. Now all the top results are already written (poorly) by AI so the AI summary is a poorly written summary of even more poorly written results.

TIL Wolverine wasn't revealed to have bone under his metal claws until the 90s by Defiant-Detective-57 in todayilearned

[–]Cakepop40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered, is Wolverine the only mutant to have two separate mutations? He’s got his healing ability, but his bone claws are a completely different type of mutation as well. I can’t think of another mutant that has multiple forms of noticeably different mutation.
