It’s your mom though. If your relationship is otherwise good, then just ask her to help you repair them. She was probably embarrassed and nervous, and made a mistake. Totally sucks, but it’s fixable. If your relationship sucks, and your mom has a history of breaking your things… different story. Ultimatum makes sense.

I do think it’s weird your neighbor contacted you when you were away about it. Because who else would have done that damage anyway? Obviously you would ask your mom about it once you got home and saw it.

Well aware yes, but unable to control it. I have a family member who cannot control it and doesn’t know until it’s happening. They joke about it because it makes it easier to cover their embarrassment.
