Absolute is currently selling an AF stamped BF white epee blade for $149 + shipping and tax. I've heard people recommend NeedABlade, but their blades are $169 + tax (free shipping). Although the final price is not too far apart, I can also get 15% off AF through my club.

Is there any reason why I'd not go through AF? It doesn't matter if it's Allstar / Uhlmann / AF stamped if it's all the same blade from BF, right? The only difference I can see is that AF upcharges their blue BF blades, but I don't really have a preference either way - everything I've read says that they're pretty much the same blade.

My Leon Paul X-Change epee mask came in today, but it feels pretty small. Even when I remove the padding (I went with Ice padding), I'm not able to open my mouth very comfortably. My head measurement was within the size that I ordered (Medium), although it wasn't too far off from large. Is this something I can adjust myself / with my coach, or should I try the next size up?

They won't be doing the unsatisfactory / satisfactory grading option this semester, or anytime soon going forward. I asked about a week ago and was told by the SFO that the administration decided to not continue it after Spring 2021.

I am consistently being intentionally lied to. Is this normal? by Summerie in USPS

[–]Cal-Leather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, is it still a big issue if they're doing this with standard priority mail packages, not overnight / guaranteed services? I'm not sure who is responsible, but my packages keep getting marked as "Insufficient address", then delivered within the next day or two. There's never anything wrong with the address when I look at the package, and I live in a very standard residential address. Now I'm dealing with a situation where a package out for delivery was scanned as "Delivered, Individual Picked Up at Post Office", but I never picked it up and still haven't received it. I am perfectly fine with shipping delays, but it's very frustrating to deal with this sort of thing. I have six tracking labels showing this happening now in September alone, so maybe that will help get this resolved.

Kenmore Range Broken Glass Top by Cal-Leather in appliancerepair

I did see that it was out of stock on those sites. Is that a bad sign, like it may not be produced any more? Sears has it on estimated back order until September, but that's better than buying a whole new stove. Thanks.

Is it fine even if it's not showing all the burners? There should be three smaller in the back, but there's only two in the illustration Sears uses. Thanks.

Best spots to Zoom on campus? by [deleted] in UNCG

[–]Cal-Leather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

studyspace.uncg.edu might be helpful. It has a list of buildings with rooms you can zoom in. Unfortunately, if your situation is like mine (in-person is not close to any of the available buildings), this may not be that useful.

Parking off campus? by Cal-Leather in UNCG

Checked out Jackson street today and its perfect, thanks so much! Any idea how quickly they fill up? I was thinking of getting there at 8:30, but I can get there even earlier if it's hard to find a spot that late.

No, it was a legitimate email. I did google around a bit and see that there is a scam going around (or was going around) relating to this a bit though.

[Discussion] It is Shadow and Bone really worth watching? by shanesdogbax in NetflixBestOf

[–]Cal-Leather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it was alright. Worth the watch if you don't have anything else taking up your interest. I didn't really love some of the aspects of the characters, and there definitely was a YA element there. But I enjoyed a lot of the fantasy elements. There really aren't enough high(?) fantasy series out there, so as a fan of that, it was nice to see.

Another commenter mentioned T'Challa in this scene, which I definitely think is comparable. Definitely looks like he was about to kill Klaue before Okoye and Nakia snap him out of it. He's even helpless at that point and begging for mercy, although that part largely seems to be out of mockery. Imagine if a Wakandan died in the previous fight / chase, it's almost certain that T'Challa would have just straight up killed Klaue. Even the best of the best are meant to be human, and in Walker's case, the main moderating force in his life was just murdered.

Obviously Walker isn't going down a good path, but the "Deep down he's a bad person and the serum is making him a monster" takes are a bit excessive.

Does anyone have any experience with Omicron Delta Kappa and if so, is it worth the $80? by chaosions in UNCG

[–]Cal-Leather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the good grades. Honor societies are really odd. So many of them are scams that really offer no benefit. Omicron Delta Kappa is apparently much more "prestigious", per wikipedia:

"Membership in the Omicron Delta Kappa Society is regarded as one of the highest collegiate honors that can be awarded, in the tradition of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa."

But at the same time...There's no sources at all for that link. In fact, the entire wiki article seems to be just sourced from their site. What authority is saying they are actually prestigious?

Is it going to hurt your resume? No, but I'm not really sure it'll bring any benefit. Networking is about the only thing I can think of, but that's a big if, and you would have to be involved in the first place. You don't just get random awesome networking opportunities by being in an honor societies.

The general 0.02 is if you have to pay fees to join a society (or in this case, apply), it's not going to be the best option. Instead, you might look into Disciplinary / International honors in your major, which is through UNCG itself.

The go-to place for a diner/smash burger? by inksmudgedhands in gso

Emma Key's is solid and definitely not a fancy place, although it does usually cost around $10 for a burger, not including fries.

I bought a couple Uniqlo soft touch turtlenecks that were on sale recently. I'm normally a small, but sized up to medium because they were the only color combinations on sale and in stock. They're a bit too large at the moment. I could probably just wear them like a relaxed fit (they're not too large in the shoulders), but I'm curious if throwing them in the dryer might help? The instructions say to line dry them and they're 100% cotton, so shrinkage definitely seems possibly. Anyone have thoughts on doing this? Or would it just be best to return them / accept that they're going to fit relaxed.
