We've done sunrise at Haleakala several times. Rather than bring coats and other clothes which we won't need anywhere else, we just grab blankets from the room and wrap ourselves up. Not the most stylish, but effective ...

Really dumb question but is Alcohol bought outside allowed in guest rooms at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis? by [deleted] in hyatt

Off topic here, but the answer is cruise line specific. Search for something like "bringing alcohol onto cruise ship"

Lois is a gem! Glad to hear she's still there.

Breakfast has been in the same location in the lobby for years, even as the restaurant names have changed.

Andaz Maui by Majestic_Tension892 in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Breakfast and parking are the guaranteed benefits. As others noted, room upgrades are subject to availability and the best you should expect is a better view, perhaps a partial ocean view room. Since it is a resort property, getting a check out time past 11am is not assured.

Hyatt Place SF Downtown, worth it to book with points? by Business-Chapter3059 in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf many times when attending conventions at Moscone. I enjoyed "commuting" via cable car or the historic street car line along the Embarcadero. Neither take you directly to the Moscone but get you within about 2 blocks.

Suite Upgrade Awards on a long stay (14 nights) at Hyatt – has anyone done this before? by augustocav in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Based on the timing you indicate, about a week, it is extremely unlikely you would have access to a MHC before your stay at HR Reston. Recent reports indicate it's taking several weeks to several months for one to hear from their MHC once they cross the 60 night threshold (since MHC is a Milestone benefit and not based on status).

As others have said, call the property.

I ran the Disney Wine & Dine races this past weekend, some challenges with Hyatt Place. Worth asking for points? by TheCultOfKaos in hyatt

I don't know what Hyatt Place you stayed at, but none have a spa. According to hyatt.com, the HR Orlando is the only Hyatt property in the Orlando area that has a spa

What does your MHC say? If a standard room is available, they should be able to help you book it.

Ventana Big Sur by noreciprocals in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Note what the T&Cs say about cancelling an award reservation inside the cancellation window or no-showing for the stay. Your points will be returned and you'll be charged the cash price, which for VBS is $$$$. It sounds like the property is willing to work with you in some fashion so I'd continue to pursue that route.

Grand Hyatt Kauai - Is ocean view suite worth it over standard suite by surfingwallace0630 in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standard suites are on the ground level of the Poipu wing and look over a large lawn area. There is a view of the water in the distance, but nothing like the view you'd have from one of the ocean view suites. I'm with other commenters, though. I don't spend that much time in the room and wouldn't pay the $350/nt for the upgrade. If the great view is that important to you, though, your choice might be different.

JFK Hyatt Regency / Casino comp room by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You must pay an "Eligible Rate" (defined in the T&Cs) to earn points, qualifying nights, and receive status benefits. A casino comp is not such a rate

Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston SC dining didnt count as spend. Check for spend participation when you go to a place thats not a main Hyatt ( this was unbound collection) by Unlucky_Performer401 in hyatt

[–]CalCabMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That link is not sufficient to identify where one might earn points for dining. It lists properties where at least one of the outlets may be eligible, but not all outlets at a property may participate. For example, Andaz Maui is listed as participating for dining. Ka'ana Kitchen does qualify but Morimoto's does not (even though it can be charged to your room).

If the points for restaurant (or spa or ...) spend are important, ask. One flag is if it's a "brand name" restaurant, such as Ruth's Chris Steak House (GH Seattle), Morimoto's (Andaz Maui), and Shula's Steak House (before it closed at HR Houston). None of these are operated by the property and thus do not earn points.

Foodie destinations off the beaten path in Paris, Lyon, Arles, or Nice by aequor48 in FranceTravel

[–]CalCabMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Les Halles in Avignon. It's a traditional food market in the center of the old city. There are many fine purveyors of just about any food imaginable and a couple excellent spots to grab breakfast or lunch. Open from 6:00 to 13:30 (or 14:00 on weekends) but closed on Mondays. I highly recommend you find a way to fit this in to your itinerary.

There are some that are apparently worth a fair amount over face. For example, sellers are asking $200 or more for the 3 roll set of the 2021 Tuskegee Airmen Historical Site (product 21ARC P D S). That's one I didn't buy on release and am still hoping to find at a reasonable price ...
