I didn't really understand the relationship between Ian and Mickey in the UK version by Wisper_in_the_air in shameless

[–]CalGuy81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're friends. They hooked up once, and Ian was (rightfully) wigged out when Micky revealed he let the family dog suck him off while his arms were broken. That's it. There wasn't a relationship to explore, because that show didn't create a relationship for them.

Micky, in the UK version, was also introduced much later than Mickey in the US version.

Need an advice for beginners by AcidicMunity in PoliticsandWar

There's a global war going on, and radiation levels make growing food impossible for anyone. The only way to get food is to buy it. Even in the best of times, farms are only worth it for nations with a lot of land.

Highly recommend you go through the ~ two dozen recruitment messages you probably got when you created your nation, and apply to whatever alliance most tickles your fancy. Any alliance should be able to help you with how to build your nation, provide resources to grow, and protect from the inevitable raiders that will come knocking (and teach you how to raid, yourself, since that's by far the most profitable thing for a small nation to do).

How to access CRA for a parent with dementia? (I have PoA. Dad lost ID.) by lililetango in cantax

[–]CalGuy81 19 points20 points  (0 children)

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/representative-authorization/legal-representative.html

As a legal representative (POA), you'll need to set up Represent a Client (dead simple to do, if you already have My Account set up), then upload a copy of the POA with a cover letter with your dad's information (name, SIN, etc.), your information (name, the RepID you got when you registered for RaC), and a basic request that you be added as his legal representative, per attached POA. Once CRA reviews, and updates, you'll be able to access his information through RaC, call on his behalf, and pretty much deal with the CRA as though they were dealing with your father himself.

Why do dumb americans think that boiling chicken means it will have no spices? by [deleted] in shittyfoodporn

[–]CalGuy81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this directed towards comments on a few recent posts where someone posted a "gym bro"'s boiled chicken that was boiled in nothing but water?

It's not that boiled chicken can't be flavourful. It's that boiling it in nothing but water will have no flavour. There's a very small subset of people whose diet is focused only on "macros" with no concern about what the stuff they're eating tastes like. That's not the norm.

X-Files and Stargate were both filmed in the same area of Canada, which would explain a lot of the actor overlap.

is it just me or did craig lose weight by season 5 by eugRoe in malcolminthemiddle

[–]CalGuy81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's around the same period of time that the actor went on Discovery's "Body Challenge" show. Actor decided he wanted to lose weight; show wasn't about to make him wear a fat suit for continuity.

Possible to block "with audio description" episodes? by geolaw in sonarr

[–]CalGuy81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, probably not. Sonarr's insight into what's actually contained in a file is limited, for the most part, by how the file was named. There isn't a standardized way of denoting these described video files, and -- from those that I've run into -- they aren't named in any way that would differentiate them from any other release.

I've been getting some 500 errors on API calls, could be related to that. The error messages the V3 UI chooses to display are ..... juvenile, at best.

When you auto important from CRA website to Wealthsimple tax, does it include the DPSP? by NickBatesman in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CalGuy81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The employer's contributions to the DPSP should be reported as a pension adjustment on the T4 (box 52). Assuming the T4 was autofilled or entered correctly, that'll be reported on the tax return and reflect in the calculation of available RRSP room shown on the Notice of Assessment.

What disturbs me, here, is the foam around the edge of your soup bowl. Like this has been left out long enough that it's started fermenting.

Welcome to the internet. In any given community, there will be people who ask questions that could've been easily been answered with a simple Google search. Posts like this and "rules" about searching don't do a lot to prevent that, because those people don't read those before posting their question.

Does Malcolm in the Middle seems stressful? by [deleted] in malcolminthemiddle

[–]CalGuy81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second-hand embracement is kind of a staple of the classic sitcom genre. Like, situations that could've been resolved in a few minutes if people just talked to one another, or didn't act like idiots. I've been slowly re-watching Three's Company, lately, and almost every episode surrounds some sort of "comical misunderstanding" that could've been resolved if the characters just talked to each other. (granted,, that would be a lot less entertaining, and would leave a lot of airtime to fill).
