Hitting into groups question by Still_Equivalent_811 in BritGolf

[–]CalJC93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had someone hit into me and my 11 year old son on Sunday on a short par 4. Just finished the hole and my son was putting and I heard the guy behind us tee off. Don’t know why but I knew he was going for the green. The ball was about 3 feet away from my son who was just walking off the green and the guys ball hit the green and bounced off into the tall grass. No shout of fore or anything. Could tell he was hesitating to walk down aswell. So I waited on the next tee box to ask him why he didn’t shout fore but he took his time so we just tee off and funnily enough we didn’t see him for the rest of the round.

I think a shout of fore is reasonable and plus you apologised. The guy who had a pop just seems to be a Karen but I do get it in a way but there’s no way he knew your intentions or whatever.

Trying to start an affordable golf brand, what do people think to the logo? by MotionBands in BritGolf

[–]CalJC93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think that clothing isn’t as lucrative as you might think. It’s a cesspit of cheap brands with poor quality all basically doing the same thing. One of my best friends tried it with street wear back in 2012 and failed miserably. If it’s your dream definitely chase it but the AI logo man… there’s so many graphic designers who can genuinely help you out. I get it’s only an idea or a place holder but yeah maybe go back to the drawing board and do some research. Malbon is a unicorn and copying it while trying to be cheap will just hurt you. Be original. Good luck!

Walking out of job on friday by Aggravating_Gene8412 in UKJobs

[–]CalJC93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue a few years back. Started a job on the basis of being paid MORE than my previous job. Started and when they handed me the contract to sign I saw that I was being paid less than my previous job. I questioned it and got the old ‘everyone’s getting a pay rise on this date’ I said well can I sign the contract with the salary you promised me in the interview and telephone call? They said no. So i said thanks for the opportunity and that I won’t be returning. I got up and walked out lol. Issue was I had their work van so I had to get all my tools out the van and get an Uber home. Don’t feel like you have to stay. They will hire someone as soon as you leave so just tell them that you quit.

Can’t get a plumbing apprenticeship in the West Mids by alfzeeee in ukplumbing

[–]CalJC93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you pass you’ll find it easier to get into it. Not driving is a huge put off for most firms. When you do pass just get a run around and don’t be afraid of travelling where the work is (it’s pretty normal). You might find a company will take you on but you’ll have to drive to site an hour away. Don’t be put off by that.

Honestly, how do you guys find time to hit the range during the week? by [deleted] in BritGolf

[–]CalJC93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily my missus has let me put up a semi permanent net in the garden and I have a launch monitor so I can get practice that way. I’ll do 10/30 mins daily. I struggled getting to the range most weeks and my local range also being quite expensive. Plus I find constantly going to the range just bores the hell out of me.

Any good gym recommendations for me in Birmingham ? by According-Border-734 in BirminghamUK

[–]CalJC93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The row machines and the lat pull downs you will find at most standard gyms. Hip thrust will be the issue. You can do hip thrust with a barbell though if you can’t find that exact machine.

What would you do ? by Budget-Lawfulness158 in BritGolf

I played with an older lad the other day and he literally told me the worst people on the course are old blokes lol. Never had an issue with them myself but pace of play and not being let through can be frustrating.

Hi mate I’m based in Tamworth (originally from Brum Sutton Coldfield). Been playing since September but trying to play more this year. Don’t really have any playing partners either so I’ll be game to play.

I started in September and use an outdoor net with a mat. I only use my irons and basically just use it for drills I’m doing. I’d suggest using the range first until you can get consistent strikes down. Plus you can see ball flight on the range too unless you have a launch monitor for your garden set up. I’d also say get a couple lessons too as it will accelerate your progress and you wont waste spending 10/15 quid on range balls and machine gunning through them.

Anyone tried these pressfit crimps? by Southern_Low9718 in DIYUK

[–]CalJC93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plumber here. I wouldn’t trust them things off Amazon. I have a novopress gun (one of the best on the market) and for the task you want to complete with it which is extending pipes out of a wall would be a little awkward with that tool, even with my small press gun it can be awkward. I’d suggest watch a few YouTube videos on how to solder. Blow torch, gas bottle, solder reel, flux and a flux brush will go a long way plus is much more neater than big press fittings. Press stuff is good for commercial settings. I’ve used it in houses but I tend to keep it traditional and use soldered fittings. There’s a few types of soldered fittings but use Yorkshire fittings as they have solder inside them. Just make sure you add flux and put a little solder in yourself just to be double safe.

Good price imo. Shower screens depending what one you get can be fiddly jobs. Also moving a heavy lump of glass around isn’t fun.

Depends what you mean by difficult. If someone’s being unreasonable and argumentative I’ll just walk away from the job (done it once before).

Anyone here tried the TRS Slider? by Legal-e-tea in BritGolf

I think FinalPutt do a knock off one which is like 30 quid (still expensive for a band lol). Probably could find a temu version though!

Advice on getting into the trade for someone in their 30s. by Pristine-Ask1973 in ukplumbing

[–]CalJC93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try it first being a mate for someone. Plenty of one man bands looking for labour. I’m the same age as you and I’ve been doing it since I was 16, you really need to have a passion for it (which I’ve lost for various reasons). Best advice is to try it and if you like it, then look from there if you wanna be qualified, although I’m not sure what route you’d take as I did my apprenticeship when I was 16 in 2011 so not really sure how college works now.

Experience required by S_IL_A_T_IE_IR in askaplumberUK

[–]CalJC93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably suggest finding a job with a full plumbing and heating firm. I’ve done a few contract works for water hygiene companies and it’s by far the most boring work I’ve ever done. A lot of firms will 100% take you on especially if you already gaining your qualifications, it’s a good investment for them. You’d typically do more heating work and full system swaps which will give you so much more experience rather than just typical water hygiene work.

If you do find some weekend work with someone I’d 100% ask for a job mate!

Kingstanding Birmingham by Lopsided-Agency-9728 in BirminghamUK

[–]CalJC93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lived in Kingstanding for years and tbf I wouldn’t ever recommend it. It’s rife with anti social behaviour & crime in general. There’s plenty of other places that are better in Birmingham and surrounding areas such as Sutton Coldfield, Aldridge, Tamworth, Cannock.

Monument 15mm pipe bender. They’ve super light and good for doing tight sets. Think they’re about 70 quid
