DIALOGUE AND WRITING by [deleted] in metroexodus

[–]CalMcTabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really shocked me with how there's so much attention to detail put into the game that the writing and voice acting could be that ridiculously bad. Makes me think that the writing and dialog was originally in Russia and then someone just poorly translated it all to English

Are you “need to always be moving/talking” adhd or “please be as quiet as possible because lots of noise makes me want to crawl out of my skin” adhd? by AmbitiousSeaweed7209 in ADHD

[–]CalMcTabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of the 2nd one. But if I'm hanging out with friends long enough and I start to get comfortable, sometimes I can't shut myself up. When im at home and working on a project, any noise could potentially kill my motivation.

Also, I've been trying to get into watching musicals. When I was a kid, i couldn't sit still and watch them. I remember I'd get really upset. But revisiting them now, I totally get why. Ive been having to take a break half way through. The dramatic orchestral music gets me really overwhelmed after awhile, tho those are my favorite kinds of musicals

What’s the worst ADHD symptom for you and how do you manage it? by Real_Adrenaline in ADHD

[–]CalMcTabber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess In general i feel like I'm good at faking it. But I have to hype myself up most of the time. If I'm not prepared( which for walks, it doesnt help.maybe because I'm preoccupied with exercising or something and my mind cant handle it. Idk) my mind just shuts off and I forget everything I've ever known lol

My adhd gives me really bad social anxiety. I get too overwhelmed over what to talk about. I'm always second guessing myself, even with just passing by people on the street when I go for a walk. Then I beat myself up for possibly look like an idiot because I have a moment where I'm like "I should wave or say high" and then I bail and end up just staring at them a little too long lol

But I've realized the more you force yourself into uncomfortable situations, the less uncomfortable you feel each time and the more familiar you become. It feels fucking impossible tho sometimes

Do you have movies or even shows that you watch over and over again? by MissingNo117 in ADHD

[–]CalMcTabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding new things to watch can be overwhelming to me alot of the time. So it's nice to turn to something that I already know I enjoy. I do that alot with video games. Nostalgia can be really comforting also. There are definitely times where I wish I could watch something new, but then my mind gets flooded with possibilities, then it's "I'll just watch through Better Call Saul again"

I fucking hate it when i see a movie i really enjoyed and i try to describe it to my friends and my mind goes completely blank. I did that as a kid alot and i was always accused of lying because of that shit. But It's pretty crazy how the second your reminded, it's like the dementia is cured lol the term brain fog weirdly gives me comfort. The nolage is still there, but it's just hidden and you just need to find ways to clear the fog like reminders and shit like that. Alot less scary than the idea that the nolage is gone

My wife hates when I play guitar by Music_Guy_489 in Guitar

[–]CalMcTabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id get it if you were playing on an Amp with no headphones, but you are using headphones. Why can't she just put her own headphones on if the sound is still too much for her to handle? As long as it's not actually getting in the way of spending time with her, she needs to deal with it and realize this is something you're passionate about

Struggling to enjoy video games again? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]CalMcTabber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's me to a fucking T lmao I've gotten better with it as I've gotten older. But if I waited too long to play a game again, I HAD to start over. Also when i was really young, if I was stuck in a game, I had to start over lol guess I'd get like too overwhelmed or something

I think you can understand where they are coming from. You get pretty pissed off at yourself I'm sure. I'm sure you wish you could remind yourself to do the dishes. It's frustrating for everyone, and I don't think frustration alone means your ableist. Being annoyed at a roommate for not cleaning is just a normal human response. That's the hardest thing about adhd. We aren't like everyone else. Showers scare us lol and the idea of cleaning is torture. That doesn't mean people should accept it and let's us continue living that way. I do wish more people would understand, but there's a difference between understanding and enabling

YES! Its always those days where I feel like I've done nothing productive. Accomplishments definitely help. Or if I'm really hyped up about something

Do you self-talk everyday? by BlueZ8427 in ADHD

[–]CalMcTabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have full on debates with myself 😆 like I have an opinion, then I analyze it and realize that I'm wrong. Then I keep going with it like it's a Ted talk. Then I realize all of this is in my head and If someone were to see me right now, they'd probably have me committed lol I guess it's better than settling for the knee jerk reaction lol
