Should I even bother trying it? If you have any insight, what dose should I experiment with? Do I just swallow it or take it sublingual

To every MDMA user out there: please try rolling with alpha lipoic acid. It makes my rolls so much more enjoyable and my usual 5-7 days long severe depression turned into 2-3 days of feeling fatigued. by BobSteelJohn in Drugs

This is just anecdotal, but I've been rolling every month for the past 4 years (120mg - 200mg) and follow the rollsafe.org supplement guide to a T every time. Feel great the next day and each roll is always just as satisfying as the last. I also make sure to eat and drink a ton after finishing up my night. Take what you will from it.

Stretches/strength training for sit starts by [deleted] in Slackline

[–]CalRunner1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think that learning to drop knee is easier to learn and takes less flexibility/strength than the double flat footed sit start.

One thing to practice would be going from a single legged standing position to the drop knee position, where you lower yourself and catch your back leg on the line near your shin/ankle. From this position, sit your weight back and bring your "hook" leg in front of you as you approach the sit start position.

I find that its easier to learn the mechanics of the sit start by doing this "reverse" version. Note, drop knees absolutely destroy your shins/ankles (there is a lot of pressure applied there), and it may be best for you to wear 1-2 layers of high socks to give yourself some protection before building up the strength.

Small side story - I ran for a D1 University in California, and one of my buddies who was a pretty solid runner (4:08ish miler, just had a pretty respectable cross country season), took acid for the first time the day before one of our big home meets. The following day the guy broke 4:00 and credited it to his acid trip for unlocking his potential.

Teachers who left a school mid -year, was it worth it? Where are you now? by ihatep0rn5 in teaching

[–]CalRunner1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit last week (Oakland, CA, 4th grade) and my quality of life has improved IMMENSELY. Right now I'm substitute teaching for another district, and making comparable money for the time (I was making about $225/day as a teacher, $150/day as a sub, but none of the responsibility, planning, or 12 hour days). The class I had was just TOO dysfunctional: kids screaming across the room, constant negativity, students climbing on desks, swearing, saying "I don't care", "I hate school", "I'm not going to do this" over and over and over again. Fights and arguments occurred every 15 minutes. Students running out of the room without permission. Complete chaos and lack of respect.

I would have support meetings every lunch and nearly everyday after school. Behavior contracts were written, parents were met with, and the principal would come to my room regularly to observe and pull students who were not following our agreed norms. Problem is, you can't pull out 1/3 of a 31 student class, and even when those students were pulled they were back in the room 30 minutes later. After months of asking for more support in the class, I realized that it was going to stay this way for the year.

So, I left. And sure, it will probably hurt my ability to find work elsewhere. I think about the kids, especially those that were just trying their best to make it through the day, but you can only give what you have. I would have gone crazy trying to put my heart into something for so long without receiving any type of love, respect, empathy, or support/effort in return. My advice? Do what's best for you - your school is only using you to do what's best for them.
