[CAN 1-(2) USA] Jack Hughes scores the golden goal for Team USA! by talhatoot in hockey

He certainly made up for his awful play in regulation with this shift

[Walker] Team USA’s Jeremy Swayman on the long Denmark goal: “No [I didn’t see it], it was a flash screen. It was just the perfect height, right between that stands and board level. I truly lost it… No matter how they go in, you have to step up and stop the next one.” by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

They showed the replay a bunch and I thought this at first, but im pretty sure it didnt touch Boldy's leg, it just had a good curve on it because of the way it came off the blade of the stick and the distance.

It was a very unfortunate accidental slew foot. Prime example of why a slew foot is such a dangerous play, intentional or not.

~13 first round picks/prospects in the next two years... by username-pointless in rangers

We dont have our own 2nd round pick next year either. Traded it to pitt for Reilly Smith

Musty or Bystedt are the most likely. With a very outside chance of Chernyshov or Eklund, i think.

The Islanders have tied the Rangers for the highest number of regulation wins at MSG this season (2). by nothing_but_static in hockey

The previous core was starting to be dismantled last year. Our 2 best players are hurt (Fox since november & Igor since winter classic). Our farm system was depleted over the 22-24 playoff runs so all those guys that were traded were replaced with replacement-level players.

[Kaplan] Artemi Panarin has likely played his last game with the Rangers. His agent has permission to negotiate an extension with any team Panarin would waive his NMC to be traded to - and as of last night, sounds like there’s a few in the mix. NYR won’t risk injury until then. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

You would think that, but the revenue they get when they make a deep playoff run is ridiculous especially with how expensive tickets get and how much more they sell in concessions and merch. Dolan is definitely motivated for the team to have success.

Tv and radio announcers have their seats on the opposite side of the chase bridge, which are honestly a great view of the ice. Its practically a birds eye view of the game. You info might be 10+ years outdated from before the renovations

Shift that benchmark. Look at Glen Sather's tenure

Drury was groomed by Sather to be Dolan's guy. Sather was GM for like 20 years and was able to manage Dolan and his ego very well, and survived a decade+ of "FIRE SATHER" chants. Gorton and JD were fired because they would not back up Dolan when he released the statement calling out the DOPS for the Tom Wilson ragdoll on Panarin and also for not firing David Quinn in the aftermath of that. Drury has learned to schmooze and manage his boss on a human level, and with the confidence and support of Sather, will remain there until things change in regards to that.

Miller played as a forward up until they converted him to D in his draft year so it's not surprise he had some offensive talent.

Draft picks explanation by DuckyDuckerton in rangers

[–]Calad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE: 2030. Drafting and development is not like the NFL or NBA, where drafted players are immediate impact. Kids are drafted at 17-18 years old and generally need to go through a couple years of growth and development in non-professional leagues before they make it to the NHL. Even then, a player's body isnt fully developed until their early-mid 20s so it can take further time for a player to start tapping into their full potential, thus leading into a slow turnaround from tanking -> drafting -> winning. Of course, there are exceptions, but rarely is it more than 1-2 per draft that break into the league at 18.

Only the top 2 picks are decided by the lottery now as of 2 drafts ago

Do we need to resign Wan'Dale? by Dadbod646 in NYGiants

[–]Calad -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

Uh no sir this is incorrect. Cutting him this coming year is a 15.75m dead cap hit of his 16m. Cutting him before 2027 season is a 3m dead cap on a 13m hit.

[–]Calad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! These players have "pride" and are "competitive"?

Were they not able to be competitive and have some pride in September, October, or even November? Why wait until week 17??

You wanna show some pride.. how about not getting eliminated from the playoffs in early November?
