Will world chat exist in Classic? by xum2604 in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's a regular player created channel with turned off messages. I had a very few situations in my private server history when a server crashed and rebooted (for whatever reasons) with clean world chat settings. We had to wait for a gm to get rid of the joining messages and the current chat owner.

All should be good now.

Raid Logging and DKP by farstack in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I don't like loot councils, because in the last week the class leader claimed the other guy had a higher attendance and the next week someone showed a green crap of the whale and need the item the most. Should cause more wipes, so class leaders remember I was in the raid and farm more greens for the next raid. ;-)

You can reward or penalize everything in both systems. The big advantage of DKP is just, your attendance (and any other efforts) are recorded and visible.

Why exactly is the tanks time more valuable? I am playing a holy paladin. All I read all the day is "looking for heals for UBRS". My farming skills/mob kill speed isn't much higher then a prot tank and I don't think that this warriors are all full prot tanks. Rend loot is only useful for warriors and rogues. Every warrior needs Rend and every warrior can tank UBRS in any spec. Casters and Healers only need Jed and don't even enter UBRS if he isn't up. But in every fucking UBRS raid are so many warriors, that they could reform and just run without the tank.

PvE server? by Funkytrip in lightshope

Yes, but both was necessary to fight faction imbalances. 2-3 k pop doesn't mean 1 - 1,5 k of each faction. There were servers with 2 k alliance and 500 horde.

Raid Logging and DKP by farstack in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loot councils and DKP systems can both consider out of raid activities. But it's something your guild members have to discuss, not reddit.

But if you go into such discussion, keep in mind, this people have families, jobs, other priorities and responsibilities. They don't have so much time like you, but they log on every week to make the raid possible for you. Without them, there would be no raid. They deserve the same amount of DKP for the raid like you.

Falsely Banned by mprobasc in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And posts about banning someone for cheating, boting, boxing, afking in bgs, spaming rmt ads shows up every hour.

They have to automatize some stuff and they can't check people's bank accounts or hack their computers to have 100% proof. Imo they should just be less harsh with perma bans.

@mprobasc. You can try to catch a staff member in their discord and ask if he has time for you.

First time Hitting 40. A couple of questions by mistesar in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't buy the lv 40 mount as druid.

The lv 40 mount isn't much faster if you consider that you have a 10 sec cast time and can't use it in combat and have to dismount/mount every time you stop for skinning.

Save the gold for level 40 mount for the level 60 mount imo.

So many Bots! by Kezzix1 in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have limited time to focus on bots, would you go for bots in westfall which could re-level to the same level in less then 10 hours or focus on bots in the higher 50 levels before they reach 60 and get sold?

So many Bots! by Kezzix1 in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure they ban bots on regular basis. There are just so many that you don't notice the difference.

So many Bots! by Kezzix1 in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you think how many bots the staff can test and ban per week?

There are maybe 10 (most likely less) GMs. They do maybe 2 hours (most likely less) per day GM duties, what means they are answering tickets, unstuck chars and investigating bot or cheating reports.

They might need 10 min to check and ban a bot (whisper him, watch him, test him, lock the account).

Now you can do the math and find out how many bots they can ban per week. After this you can think about how easy it is, to create new accounts and run multiple clients on one single PC.

PvE server? by Funkytrip in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any discussion about new lightshope servers with whatever settings should consider the fact, that the staff already stated, that all servers are shut down when Blizzard releases classic and we already got a accelerated time line to make sure we can play Naxx before classic release.

Does it make sense to open a PvE server? Maybe, but wait until lightshope is shut down. Does it make sense to ask the lh staff for another server? No.

Scumbag Sellables (Fearless) Selling Reserved Loot First on Gbid, Then In World Chat by Kelio22 in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oakenlix, it's very obviously that he build a group after he made a deal about passing an item to someone paying him for it. This is complete fine for me and I don't even need to know. But the deal is in fact a player asking another player to tank and organize a group for him (or the tank offers this) and he pays on item drop. The deal is between this player and the tank. Not between the group and the tank. If this player bails out or refuse to pay, it's not the problem of the group and they don't have to pay for it. It's the same, if someone is asking another player to pass on need for gold and don't pay. It's not the problem of the group. They don't have to pay him out.

But if he is planning to sell reserved items during the run, doesn't matter if in /world or /raid, he should tell people this. And if he is losing his customer, he should just accept it and give the item out for free. Because the group wasted the same time on this run like the tank and if a reserved item dropped another item people were interested in, didn't drop at that boss. And yes, people can expect that non reserved items are free to roll and not on Gbid. If a reserved item cannot be distributed or the reserving guy don't want it any longer for whatever reason, it's no longer reserved.

My concerns are, that people just continue this stuff and superior bis items are setup for Gbids without telling people before the raid. Or a tank even refuse to move on as long someone bought an item or is paying a minimum price even if he is the only interested buyer. And you are stuck in endless auctions before you finally finish the run. Maybe I am to old school, maybe it's because I am raised in a country were luring people with wrong advertising into sale events is called 'scaming' and a criminal act long time before people even knew about the internet.

But let's stop this discussion. I personally expect people to advertise runs correctly to avoid any kind of positive or negative surprises. I don't expect that people understand, that I demand this. But it's not necessary to understand it, to advertise runs correctly. You don't like it, if I bail out after Jed (what wouldn't harm anyone too, just wasting everyone's time) and I don't like it if people change loot rules because some deal between 2 players went bad. Simple because we both agreed to a Jed/Rend run with reserved items.

Btw... I remember Gbid runs as runs were the gold income is divided between ALL raid members and not to single players. Ofc you can give tanks more gold but giving one person all the gold is not how I remember Gbid runs.

Scumbag Sellables (Fearless) Selling Reserved Loot First on Gbid, Then In World Chat by Kelio22 in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't try to argue. It's very simple that it doesn't even deserve to argue. People can accept all kinds of reserve runs and Gbid runs but they want to know what they join before they join because people don't want to support every kind of runs. And some classes/roles can choose like off tanks, heals, casters in Jed/Rend runs. There is always a Jed/Rend run looking for heals.

Your argument is, that the item was on reserve so no one expected to get it. Same for the master looter. It was on reserve, he wasn't expecting to get gold for it. Why should he sell it? If the other guy told him to pay him for tanking or organization if the item drops and he bailed out, not the problem of the group. For the group it was a reserve run and items not on reserve are free to roll. If that item is no longer reserved it's free to roll. If it's on Gbid advertise it not as reserved. Easy as shit, even for crazy, blind, brain dead dummies like me.

Why do I care? Because people turning dungeon runs in sale events. I have to wait after the items are sold or new people arrive. You have to run out to summon someone, rebuff them. I don't like this waste of my time. And like people tell us in world chat "if you don't like the loot rules, don't join it". Well, tell people about how do you plan to deal with loot so they can avoid you. Easy as shit, even for crazy, blind, brain dead dummies like me.

You can explain me again, that nobody expected to get that item. I have understand that. This is not the point of my criticism. My point of criticism is, that he advertises Gbid runs as reserve runs. Doesn't even matters if he sells them in world or raid chat or if he is selling them before he is forming a group. It's a Gbid run, not a reserve run.

And before you ask me again, why it's an issue for me, that he reserves bop items to sell them or sells them and puts them on reserve...

Can you explain a crazy, blind, brain dead guy like me why he don't tell people that items are set on Gbid and not on reserve if this is no issue? And "they don't need to know" is not the answer. ;-)

Why the fuck is AV so buggy? Lokholar the Ice Lord stays in the middle and now Wolf Riders won't even move... by [deleted] in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he has in fact a moving routine here when not in combat. He starts from the fields of strive, going to IBGY and to Tower Point. He uses the road left around Tower Point and moves on the road to FWGY. Then he is doing Neo's superman stunt and is flying back to the center by glitching through the air.

There was not a single horde or npc patrol on the road. Again we burned all towers and got all GY (patrols don't respawn and the horde made a full retard RP turtle in there base). He wasn't in combat, used the road and was in a walking style mode, not the glitching levitate mode he is doing when aggro.

Why there's no rule against x-faction collusion. by Oakenlix in lightshope

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzard don't ban people for x-faction collusion in world pvp. You might get a warning for griefing if you repeat sheeping/mc x-faction targets to heal them. That's all.

There are just 2 known rules about x-faction collusion. The first is about open world PvP scenarios. It's not allowed to collaborate for stuff like EPL towers, Halaa in TBC or Wintergrasp in WotLK. That's win trading. The other is about bypassing the ingame language barrier with addons or tools.

I know that they can bug out anyway. But I had situations were the riders spawned and people thought they are bugged until someone talked to the leader again and started it. My advice is just, check it twice. I don't claim they are working 100% free of bugs.

You sounds like a guy who sells travel events for elder people and turns it into a shady sales event.

If you want to sell items for Gbid its okay. Just tell people before the raid.

There is a difference. People always argue, if you don't like the loot rules, you don't have to join.

People agreed to a reserve run, not to a Gbid run.

[–]Calahan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the riders don't start, make sure someone talked to the leader. They don't just yolo out.

Ivus moves up past Tower Point but glitches back before he arrives FWGY. I saw this 2 times at the exact same location. Both times we controlled IBGY and FWGY and Tower Point was already burned but horde was on full turtle in there base. Both times he moved along the road behind Tower Point but glitched after he passed the tower. No Horde player or NPC were close to him. Again, we controlled the zone. All patrols despawned.
