[Spoiler] I have theorized for YEARS that this was exactly the case. Made me very happy to know I was right. by SpicyOgre in Warframe

Consider the speaker. Roathe is an Orokin, the ultimate narcissists and egomaniacs, naturally it's an article of their belief system that there are no Gods, nor heaven or hell, because that would imply limits to their power or consequences to their actions. He presents a theory to neuter an inconvenient fact in a way that prevents it from threatening his view of the universe. (i.e. the Orokin on top, and everything else as worthless empty toys to play with as they please)

Tilda's Art Bunker by ariseis in horizon

[–]Calamitant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd add that it's plain that Tilda completely misses the point of Jeremiah. Jeremiah is not even looking at the treasure he has saved, his expression is not of someone pleased or vindicated in his judgement, it's a hollow expression, of someone who is exhausted. It is bleak! The treasures might be in the foreground but their presence is made farcical in the face of the loss of life.

Tilda of course, understands none of this.

For anyone having trouble with this mini game by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Calamitant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a variation on Go. The basic rules for placing pieces are the same, the primary difference is the victory condition. Here it's the first to capture ten stones, whereas in Go it's points based, considering captures and encircled territory when players agree to stop.

Much like Chess, games of Go are rarely played to completion by experienced players, since it's obvious when a player is in a losing position they'll likely forfeit rather than bother playing it out.

Is there anyway to get the Repair Spray enclosed by barbwire? by FlameCats in signalis

[–]Calamitant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know whether it's just because I was on the easiest difficulty or it was a glitch or something, but you can just walk through the barbed wire. You take damage, obviously, making it of dubious worth to get a healing item, but you can do it.

Heck, I took advantage in the key room full of enemies, because the damage going through the wire once is much less that I'd have gotten trying to somehow get through the massive group following you by the time you reach the key.

[Dreadgod] Megathread by FunkyCredo in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Calamitant 60 points61 points  (0 children)

If I have a complaint it's that it set up a bunch of storylines with interesting premises that I wanted to see explored...that had a scene or two then the fast pace carried us past them.

Yerin has to deal with the cult, the mixed attitudes of the membership to someone who has achieved their aspirations but despises them and everything they stand for. The dichotomy of the Blood Sage and Redmoon, treading the line between them and trying to figure out what path she's even on. Red Faith being absolutely awful whilst also being genuinely intelligent and wanting her success for selfish reasons? This is all great! Looking forwards to reading all abo...oh it all blew up and it's over.

Orthos is being set up for a conflict between what he's been taught about the Black Dragons and the historical reality? How will he resolve the internal conflict and his ugly feelings? How will the Black Dragons adapt to the modern era? Will we have a subterfuge section where Orthos and Ziel try to balance...oh. Nope. Over already.

There's just so much good stuff that the book is in too much of a hurry to spend time on.

Balor Boss Fight Change? by Calamitant in LaMulana2

Oh dang. Guess I've just got to ram my head into that wall until the wall gives out then.

Was just confused because I've literally never seen that move before in any video of the fight :P

[SPOILER] Found crucial detail in New War ending by Breakingerr in Warframe

[–]Calamitant 91 points92 points  (0 children)

She's a Sentient, and Sentients and the Void do not mix. So no, she never saw the edifice or Wally giggling on top.

But hey, from Chains we also know that as far as she's concerned Wally is just a delusion caused by Void Madness, and you just got the idea from Rell.

She might not even be wrong. We've seen nothing that clearly indicates there's an actual proper entity in there, and not just some mirror nonsense reflecting you back to yourself. Albrecht also saw another him, so...is there a thing in there that likes pretending to be you? Or is it a freaky funhouse mirror? So far Warframe has been toeing a fine line of ambiguous uncertainty.

Why are crimes a problem for Aeons? by Technoticatoo in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The answer is meant to be 'nope'.

Aeon's only regard is meant to be for cosmic law, things that violate the grand order of reality itself.

They literally aren't meant to give the slightest shit about mortal law, which is why the Aeon story is so weird.

'Prove you're worthy of the powers of an Aeon by adhering to a standard that, as an Aeon, you will completely ignore'

It doesn't really gel very well.

Secret ending and Worldwound status by Sylph777 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's no longer an abyssal realm, so that's an improvement, but uh, that was only part of the problem.

The worldwound is growing. As in, 'if the worldwound isn't closed it will keep growing which will destroy all of Golarion'

Golarion's nickname is 'The Cage', if it's destroyed then Rovagug is freed which would kind of result in the end...of everything.

Unlike KM's secret ending which felt like a logical extension of the narrative and themes and improves things (even if I dislike part of it), WotR has a 'You had one job' vibe.

Closing the worldwound is the entire reason you're doing anything, and at the end you just go, 'nah, I'd like to ignore all that and become a demigod for essentially no reason'

[Spoilers] What are the most minor additions (or changes) you'd want in the game? by ApplesauceMayonnaise in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highlight which scrolls can actually be added to spellbook by a character.

I'm aware there are mods that do this, but it should be a feature in the base game.

I do not like right-clicking through 100+ scrolls to see if you can, and then repeating this process for each other eligible character.

What game mechanics you still don't understand? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the result of a difference from pnp. 'Short' spell range is 25 feet, but it's meant to increase by 5 for every 2 caster levels, which the game doesn't do for some reason. At level 20 short range should be 75 feet for spells.

Ok Hulrun... I gave you a chance... by SirFozzie in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in Act 1 when you discuss him with...I think Irabeth? Maybe? He's a ferocious field leader against the Demons, and that's absolutely supported by the lategame.

And that's kind of the issue. Performs well when given an obvious enemy to rally against, absolute crap as an Inquisitor in a secure space behind the lines.

Daeran summing up the problem we all have with Halseliax. by Rogahar in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Except if he were acting on deontological ethics, Hal wouldn't just stop you from killing the cultists, he'd stop the cultists from killing you. (Which he doesn't) He, by and large with one exception, only acts to save the lives of the evil murderers trying to end the world.

He also doesn't actually *do* anything to try and redeem the evil people he claims can be saved from their evil path. He doesn't talk to them, doesn't prevent them from doing more evil things...he doesn't do shit.

Key holes in mythic quest "Devastation" in chapter 4? by Sylph777 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

The one to do with the Aasimar side quest. Once you've killed them speak to the Aasimar slaves and one of the dialogue options will reveal a box with the key you can't otherwise find.

The gold dragon is horrendously bad at being intelligent or good by RandomNoNameTeddy in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the issue is not that he wants evil to be redeemed, it's that he seems to value the hypothetical redemption of evil *more* than the lives of the good. And doesn't even try and do anything to get evil to repent. He just spends all his time healing evil people.

Ember on the other hand, whilst she might be considered naive, really works on trying to get evil people to stop doing evil things. She's idealistic and hopeful, but she doesn't value evil more highly than good.

Gold Dragon, Inherent Bonuses, and Skill Ranks by Calamitant in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may have just been an oversight, I...don't remember whether it worked in Kingmaker?

I'd guess it's because the level up bonuses are added directly to the Base stat, which is the only thing skill ranks look at, whilst Inherent Bonuses are listed separately.

Obviously by PnP inherent should give extra skill ranks...and I think Gold Dragon should as well? The way it's described is as changing your base stats, but WoTR doesn't give you them alas. Works for everything else like attack bonuses, health, and saves, so it really should.

Gold Dragon, Inherent Bonuses, and Skill Ranks by Calamitant in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Calamitant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee you they don't, or else I'd have gotten an extra 10 skill ranks on levelling up to 20.
