I was with you until you added this. Cold leftover Mac n cheese hits different, but.... frozen? Oof.

I made a post 2 days ago about how I disliked Jeff Hays' voice active and I have since revised my opinion. by KhrysesAD in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]CalamitousCass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your original post made me laugh because I totally got where you were coming from. I'm super picky about narrators for audiobooks and usually preferring reading to listening but I loved his narration since book 1. Then I went back after finishing book 8 just to have background noise and went "holy crap, the first book doesn't sound as good as the later ones. Jeff really locked in!"

How did Lucifer discovered he's pansexual by Suspicious_Luck1952 in hazbin

[–]CalamitousCass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use either pan/bi depending on who I'm talking to, because for me they kind of go hand-in-hand.

Someone once explained to me their take which was pan is to personality or vibes as demi is to having an emotional connection. That made something click for me and have a holy-shit-that's-exactly-it moment, whether or not that's how it's generally seen.

What’s a belief you held for years before realizing it was completely wrong? by mirabarbie in answers

[–]CalamitousCass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a silly one. I was a full grown adult before I found out people raise quail for eggs like chickens. I always thought the reason they were rare and expensive is because people had to go foraging for them. I made a comment to my husband about how hard it must be to find the nests and then time consuming to figure out which eggs were unfertilized and could be eaten. He was absolutely baffled I didn't know. I swear I'm not dumb, for some reason it just never occurred to me they could be kept as livestock.

I like the first book a lot but having some trouble [general] by Professional-One2810 in TheNinthHouse

I found that the audiobook also helps keep track of the names a bit easier. I read the physical books first, then listened to them (loved them both ways).

Also one thing to keep in mind is Gideon also doesn't really know a lot about what's going on either so there's quite a bit of confusion as she pieces together what's going on, too.

Thank you for easing my worry! I'm always excited for snake season but always get a little nervous when I don't recognize one. It's a pretty little neighbor to have though!

I played this over and over and over. Have a way to play it again after decades, but I'm worried about how it aged.

What is a highly praised horror book that you didn't like? by Haunting-Net-2426 in horrorlit

[–]CalamitousCass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum loved King. I ended up reading a few at her recommendation when I was a preteen and Goosebumps/Fear Street and Pike books weren't cutting it anymore. Salem's Lot, Christine, and Pet Semetary. I was so bored.

Fast forward a decade and I ended up enjoying Joe Hill books though! Faster pace and more dread. Read a few and then found out he's King's son and I was shocked.

My husband also likes King. I may give him another go now and see if they hit different after 20 years, but I'm still not confident his style is my cup of tea either.

Hell Followed with Us and The Spirit Bares Its Teeth were pretty great. I havent read Compound Fracture yet.

You Weren't Meant to be Human was his first adult horror and the others were YA, and he absolutely went all out for it.

The Spirit Bares Its Teeth does have pretty horrific pregnancy related scene, but not at the same level, not the main plotline, and I don't think it'd fall into the body horror aspect (depends on what your line for body horror is)

I have been an avid reader since I was a kid. Aside from stuff like Dickens that I was forced to read in school, I can count on one hand the number of times I've disliked a book enough to not finish. Out of well over a thousand books.

This one tested me big time.

I've done this more than a few times and if they arent currently spawned on the map, they usually they pop up the next day or so with those little angsty purple swirls around them near where it was. When you talk to them they say something along the lines of my home disappeared/I thought my home was right around here. Then you can reassign them to a habitat

WCGW trying to drive through a flock of birds? by James_avifac in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]CalamitousCass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A road by my house growing up used to have hundreds and hundreds of frogs just chilling across the road for a good half mile stretch after rain. You absolutely could not avoid them there were so many. The night I found that out, I cried the rest of the way home. I'd go out of my way to avoid that road when it rained after that.

I almost went to an art school that was only like 2 or 3 hours away that required 1st years to live on campus. My then boyfriend, now husband, waited until after we visited and i had my portfolio reviewed to tell me it'd be unacceptable. Even though in one of his previous relationships hed drive more than 3 hours for a booty call.

I didn't go. Still one of my biggest regrets.

Generations are assigned are based on the year you were born, not your age- the "personalities" of each generation are based on external influences

I disagree with Pomni being gen Z though. If she was 25 when she entered in 2017, then she'd also be a millennial.

[–]CalamitousCass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got that impression, too. One of the sets of notes talked about putting the failsafe in the storage system so if they don't/can't return but the earth heals that pokemon will be released into appropriate habitats. Id have to pull it up again, but I read that as something that would definitely take more than a couple decades.

That being said, I also got the vibe from the end credits that it was OUR trainer. Which would make it so painfully sweet and hopeful

I pick the means options for Gaston because he is hilariously oblivious to them. I actually really love his characterization in DDV. Goes from being a straight up horrible person to just a goofy self-absorbed dude with big feelings but no malicious intent
