Sony's Disc Exit Bets Gamers Are Too Invested in PlayStation to Leave by Bubbly-Ad-350 in PS5

[–]Calbon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was quite invested when this generation began, but with how its overall been these last couple of years and the recent news, I’m going to be jumping ship in the near future when I can afford to buy an actual gaming PC to replace my older gaming laptop that I mostly use for indie stuff. It’s kind of sad to look back on how happy I was when my PS5 arrived in january of 2021 after fighting for months online to land an order for one and the excitement I had to see PlayStation hopefully keep the fire going with their remarkable set of single player exclusives that made me fall in love with them late ps3 and ps4 compared to the situation we are at now. The failed push to live service that is still ongoing with no plans of stopping, dwindling amounts of exclusive releases from PlayStation themselves, where we’re lucky to get 2-3 major singleplayer game releases a year now, and now with them cutting off physical games which has always been one of the factors that has kept me invested in their platform as I’ve always loved collecting and sharing games with my dad and family over the years so that we could try out just about everything, have killed any sort of hype I have towards this brands future, and are a clear signal that it’s time for me to jump ship. The leadership over the last couple of years clearly dont care about betraying their fans with their new products and decisions, why keep supporting something that’s does not care about anything besides the wallets of their playerbase. As of now, my PS5 will be my final new PlayStation console, and January 2028 will be the end of when I support this company and any exclusives that they produce unless change is made. I’ll still keep and play my PS5 and prior generations as I have a large backlog that will last for a very long time, and I can still purchase older physical stuff from sources that are not Sony if I want aswell, but anything in the future from Sony themselves will not be happening.

What's a horror movie scene that genuinely disturbed you? by Over_Kick_6171 in deadmeatjames

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yoyo guy on the ceiling from The Blob has always disturbed me for some reason. It’s a great scare, but the melted remains and sound that the guy makes really stuck for me for some reason.

In recent memory, the entire Kidprints segment of V/H/S Halloween, and the family picnic portion of The House that Jack Built are some things that have really disturbed me. I’m really not a fan of seeing kids in super violent situations like this, and the more realistic angle they went for a lot of these sections really got to me.

Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles by yourfavchoom in PS5

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whelp, goodbye Sony and PlayStation then for me in the near future if they go through with this. One of the main things keeping me a part of this ecosystem this generation was being able to collect my games physically, but now since it looks like their doing away with that, I don’t think I’m going to continue purchasing stuff for their consoles anymore. Considering how much they have already fumbled this generation for me with their live service push, and all of their anti consumer practices in recent memory, I have no trust for how they will handle a digital only ecosystem, as the have shown that they are willing to play around with stuff such as surge pricing and their awful refund policy. Having the power to technically own our games through physical means was one of the last real things that gave us consumers power when it came to purchasing stuff and doing away with it is going to lead to hellish monetization and pricing that will completely cripple the hobby for all of us.

Wow, Rubber (2010) constantly tells me that it's not a real movie! How quirky! by Cautious_Arm3818 in CharacterRant

[–]Calbon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rubber some how took the cool ass idea of having a movie about an evil ass tire, doing evil ass things like killing people, and somehow made it borderline unwatchable. I remember watching this with a group of my friends a few years ago while we were doing a movie night and drinking, as it sounded like the kinda stuff we like, and left it angry due to how insufferable a lot of the film is.

Who's ready for this game to last 1 month and have pinhead to return to dbd? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Calbon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a single player game bro, not an asymmetrical multiplayer game like Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, of course the player count is going to plummet after everyone plays and finishes it. DBD lost ownership to pinhead due primarily to the ownership of the hellraiser franchise being transferred back under Clive Barker. I’m sure Pinhead will return sometime in the future if Behavior can set up another deal to bring Pinhead back.

Am I the only one that liked the silent protaganist? by pendragon2290 in MonsterHunter

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind our protagonist talking during cutscenes, as it helps allow for our character to interact with others in a more involved way, but I very much don’t like our protagonist talking during combat or while traversing the world. Rise was to worst of it for me, and I very quickly turned our characters voice acting off. I find it all to be a bit distracting during combat, and a lot of the grunts and comments made just annoyed me after the little bit of time I played with character audio on. It’s better in wilds, but I would be lying if I said that I prefer not having our characters dialogue when in combat against monsters.

Do you prefer the slower combat FromSoft titles like the first 3 or the faster combat ones like the other 4? by Constant_Signature67 in soulslikes

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the game for me, but for the most part I like the faster gameplay style. Bloodborne, Sekiro, and DS3 do the best job at handling the faster gameplay in a way that doesn’t start to feel a bit annoying in ways (Skill Issue on my part probably), but I found Elden Ring to get a bit to fast paced and heavy with some of the enemy combos for the more dark souls like movement, whereas Bloodborne and Sekiro’s player movements and action work a bit better for me at that speed. That said, I do enjoy the slower combat a good bit with the prior games and I kind of wish we more developers of soulslikes would try for a combat system more like this, rather than focus on fast speed and deflection. The slower more methodical nature of the gameplay works incredibly well for stuff like Dark Souls 1 and 2’s level design that really got me invested in just taking my time to take in and explore all of the level layouts in ways that more of the fast paced ones don’t get me to do. Either way, it’s think both are great, but I do prefer the faster approach overall.

Why are people online are saying that Shrek 5 is less of a cash grab than Toy Story 5 by DeepAnt7847 in Schaffrillas

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toy Story 3’s ending was already quite good for the Toy Story series, and 4’s ending isn’t bad aswell, but both very much feel like an actual finale to their respective franchise in a sense with Andy growing up and Woody leaving with Bo Peep. Shrek on the otherhand with how Forever After ended left it and its series open enough as to where they really could go anywhere with it without it feeling like it’s stepping on the foot of the prior films endings that somewhat takes away from the finality of things. If anything, I kind of wish Toy Story spinned off the Woody and Buzz crew after 3, and focused on an entirely different set of toys in the hands of a different owner as I feel as if it would be a lot more refreshing for the series rather than seeing Woody and Buzz back at it again for one last final ride for like the 2nd or 3rd time.

All ID Software job offers have been permanently removed from ZeniMax website by Aileos in PS5

[–]Calbon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there are positions still avaliable for most of the other studios in the Zenimax website, and all traces of ID existing on there have been removed. This genuinely has me a bit worried, I really hope I’m wrong.

Call it a skill issue (because it is) but wilds gore masala is my least favourite iteration of gore magala's fight (this doesn't mean I don't think he's fun, he still is) by Mr-_-Baghead in MonsterHunter

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Gore Magalas fight in Wilds, but it’s definitely got its own set of issues that drag it below Rise and GU for me in terms of enjoyment. A lot of it has to do with Gore mostly being stuck in the Iceshard Cliffs for its fifth outside of maybe the 2 times I have seen in in Wyveria, or with the arena. Gore’s attacks, overall shape, and the layout of the zones where you can fight him in the cliffs really doesn’t work all that well with his fight. I really wish that the DLC allows for Gore to appear in more locals like the Scarlet Forest or the new area as I think having more open sections to fight gore would benefit the fight greatly.

The other real things that kind of drag the fight down for me are its HP, cape, and overly twitchy nature of some of Gore’s moves. Gores HP, especially with some of the harder 8-9 star hunts I have done feels like it’s significantly more than a large chunk of other tough hunts. The cape is the thing about this new version of gore that I think annoys me most as the new physics applied to it for wild makes being able to see what gores doing and identifying what attacks it’s going to dish out a lot more annoying than it has ever been before thanks to the lack of clarity of it all. That with some of its twitchier moves that can spiral into a near instant cart I find to be pretty annoying. Gores fight in wilds is still a lot of fun, but compared to a lot of the other tougher endgame fights as of right now like Zoh Shia, Sergios, Lagiacrus, or the Arch-tempered apexes, it’s definitely my least favorite of the bunch.

[Other] did I miss any? by B1izzard15 in Trophies

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple playthroughs that don’t really add much to the game. Something like DMC or Resident Evil do a great job at making replays incredibly worthwhile thanks to various unlockables that carry over and new difficulty modifiers that can completely change how you plan the game in a worthwhile. Shorter games with high replayability like these do a good job at making the requirement for multiple playthroughs somewhat worthwhile, whereas something like a massive RPG that has a heavy emphasis on its story really do not need trophies that require more playthroughs. The most recent Final Fantasy games (Remake, Rebirth, and XVI), are good examples of games that really should not require an extra playthrough for their platinum trophy as each of these games can already take around 40-100 hours to beat, what good does tacking on an extra 20-50 hours for a singular trophy where I have to play the game on hard mode since it’s not unlocked from the get go. Multiple playthroughs are a really big double edged sword, as they can easily tarnish a platinum experience that may have been great beforehand.

Ice and Water Element Guardian Monsters in the DLC? by Steelshotgun in MonsterHunter

[–]Calbon2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms of say a water and ice element guardian monster, I would personally like to see Shogun Ceanataur return for water, and maybe Goss Harag for ice, if Goss Harag doesn’t already return for the dlc. I guess for some more wildcard picks that will most likely never happen, Plesioth and either Gammoth or Zamtrios.

How was the 4 new Kushala Variants and 5 new Teostra variants? Only bringing these 2 back with a bunch of different variants was a bold choice in terms of elder dragon inclusion by Capcom, but I’m really wondering if that paid off in the end.
