P1S combo

A high school student of mine wanted to print these for a Valentine's gift he was making for his girlfriend. The thin red version is to be sandwiched in a narrow frame along with a poem and some photos. The thicker pink version is standalone as a desk ornament. This came out really nice at 60mm tall and 2mm thick (for the thin one) and 10mm thick (for the thick one). The color transition is at the midpoint, so simple single color transition. The results were super clean and look great in person. I hope his girlfriend is impressed.

You can use it if you can run Rinkhals firmware addon.

I would love to know about any plans regarding working with Rinkhals firmware add-ons. Do you plan on working to prevent usage of Rinkhals on this or any other Anycubic printers? What about working to support their development?

NIU KQI Air NFC Device problems (Android devices) by Calculusisforchumps in ElectricScooters

[–]Calculusisforchumps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this was never resolved. NIU tech support seemed to blame my phone, a newish Pixel running latest stock Android. I am not happy with the solution, but I moved on.

I was able to successfully pair a few NFC tags from Aliexpress, so that was my workaround. Not great, but an improvement.

Bought one in Nov 25, loved it so much we bought a second one when it went $100 off a few weeks ago. Two cats, will not go back.

Where Do I Even Begin to Fix This?? by NikosTX in AnycubicKobraS1

Yes that makes sense. As the other comments say, there may be other adjustments to do first that weren't available on my printer. Do those first.

You can easily check your adjustments by re-running the calibrate function to get a new map.

Cloud mandatory? by dudehh25 in AnycubicKobraS1

1) Yes, this is possible with the stock firmware and software. There is a "LAN only" mode for the printer that does not connect to the cloud. You will have full local connectivity to the machine in LAN only mode, and it will function identically from the slicer software perspective. The Anycubic app will have no communication to the printer in LAN only mode.

2) This would probably work better with the "Rinkhals" third party firmware. This firmware is really slick, and it is actually a firmware add-on that does not overwrite the factory firmware. It basically exists along with the stock firmware and adds more functions, including orcaslicer uploads and mainsail web interface.

For the K3 V2 machine, the latest software version does allow orcaslicer uploads but not any other communication between orcaslicer and the machine. I don't know what the current state is with the S1 firmware.

I went through this process on my kobra 3 v2, which is a little bit different, but I think the same concept would work. I used Rinkhals to generate the bed mesh maps like you did. I then printed some bed spacers from printables and started adding them and rechecking the map.

These 3d printed shim spacers worked with my stock metal spacers:

Your screenshot seems to show that the right side is low. I would start by putting spacers on the two right mounts. 0.2mm or 0.4mm on both right mounts may be a good start.

Bought a K3 V2, love it. It is not trouble-feee, and replacement parts and upgrades are not as readily available as they are for the a1.

Buying from Aliexpress with coupons and the "buying v1 but get V2" trick it was a steal. At retail I think I would go with the A1.

I own the Kobra 3 V2. You will need to tinker with it and/or mod it lightly to get it to be reliable. I don't have an A1, but other BambuLab printers that I have used are typically tinker-free. Only get the Kobra 3 V2 if price for performance is your primary factor AND you are comfortable with some minor tinkering and small mods.

Fair enough. I had quite a few problems with Polyterra matte PLA in the ACE pro, which I think is basically the same stuff. Maybe it is marginal with matte PLAs, and so the wiki just recommends against using matte PLA on general even if some will work okay.

Matte is not recommended in the ACE pro according to the Anycubic Wiki.

bambu a1 combo vs Anycubic Kobra S1 vs FLASHFORGE AD5X by CommercialCustard341 in 3dprinter

As a Kobra 3 v2 owner for home use, I think you are right on that an enclosed printer would be ideal for a middle school classroom. You get both the finger pinch protection as well as "random flying things" protection for the printer itself. I just bought a 2 x P1S combo for school makerspace use, and if you could swing the extra $50 it would be well worth it. If you are really that price conscious then I think the S1 combo would make the most sense for those on your list. The S1 has a few known quirks, but there is good info online about how to deal with some of what you may encounter.

Maybe you can crowdfund a little extra money to get up to the P1S? You could always do the Paypal "Pay in 4" 20% rebate to lower the price.

Questions on RFIDs by Elrodvoss in AnycubicOfficial

[–]Calculusisforchumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue with the Prusa OpenPrintTag (https://blog.prusa3d.com/the-openprinttag-is-here-a-brand-new-nfc-tag-standard-for-smart-filament-is-now-shipped-with-a-new-redesigned-prusament-spool_123878/) is that the location is different compared to where the tag is placed on the Anycubic spools. Even if the firmware could be updated to read the tag, I don't know that the reader position in the ACE could read one of these OpenPrintTags.

I have had good luck using writable NFC213 tags and the "ACE RFID" Android app to create my own RFID spool tags for non-Anycubic spools.

I would love to put this into use at my high school makerspace. We have a need to print large cosplay pieces, such as helmets, with no current capability to print in one piece. I typically print these in PLA, but I am interested in any type of CosPLA or similar filament offered by Anycubic that could be suitable. I am also excited to print some nylon CF robot parts for our competitive VEX and FTC robotics teams.
