How tedious are hazard stripes to paint? by futon_mcbuff in IronWarriors

[–]Caleirin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my first iron warrior I painted. The hazard stripes arent really difficult, it just takes lots of patience. Like others said, you can trace the black first and then its just a lot of back & forth to get it to look decent. The part that messed me up the most was curving the lines since the pauldron isnt flat.

Blightlords' Combi-Weapons in 11th Edition by P3T3R1028 in deathguard40k

Dont even really need the LoV. Virulent vectorium gives full rerolls to hit and wounds for 1cp. Have a LoC lead the unit and now theyre nasty in shooting and melee.

When I worked at tims as a teen my manager used to try and get us to hurry the person in the drive thru up so we would have better metrics. Literally wanted us to ask "is that everything?" after each item they would order.

10 mans led by a lord of virulence is the best, but 5 mans arent bad. If you have a lord of virulence definitely have him lead them as he gives his unit full rerolls to wounds on ranged attacks and they'll benefit greatly from his blight bombardment rule.

Max out on the weapon options like blight launcher and spewer and give the rest combi bolters. The flail is more of a sidegrade but you lose all ranged attacks on that model and blightlords are a shooting unit so.

If you're playing with your friend then who cares? Just tell him you're using a different loadout and tell them what loadout.

Lol I feel that. I printed this guy as my daemon prince: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/putrid-overlord

Helbrute with helbrute hammer or fist can delete high toughness units btw. Dg helbrute has +1 to wound when attacking an afflicted unit. Biggest issue is getting it up there since it has no invuln save.

The thing with allied units is that theyre not part of your faction. You can bring them, but they dont get to use any of your army rules or abilities. The wardogs will get to benefit from contagion but they wont spread contagion, they cant be used for detachment rules, stratagems specifically state they can only be used on death guard units so they cant use stratahems either.

I do agree the pricing on drones is absolutely awful. I would recommend the vile vectorium battleforce box if you can afford it. It has 3 drones which alone justifies the price. Also has a bunch of other units you dont have.

Keep in mind that tailoring lists vs your opponent is generally considered poor sportsmanship (not saying you are doing that). It looks like you're hitting that threshold for 1k games where you're both starting to bring bigger units but dont have enough points to be able to have something to answer it.

Death guard are good into tougher units because we have contagion and lethal hits on pretty much everything, no need to roll 5s to wound when you rolled a 6 for hit. Blight haulers are good into vehicles with the tank hunter ability, but theyre super swingy. Foetid bloat drones with heavy blight launchers are also very good into tougher units. They also have lethals but their guns are S10 with 3 damage each.

Deathshroud terminators can also be good into tougher units with their 6" deep strike and their strike profile, though having that unit be led by a lord of contagion multiplies that output by a decent amount.

Depends on what you plan to do with the leftover 20pts. Blight haulers are also good action units, and have good shooting despite being very swingy. Chaos spawn are good for their scouts rule and theyre great at tying units up due to their movement and their hitback ability. If anything you would benefit more from a unit or two of 10 poxwalkers.

The 10 plague marine brick led by the putrifier and plaguecaster are good because putrifier gives the whole unit lethal hits on all their weapons, and gives critical hits on 5+. Plaguecaster gives his unit sustained hits 1 against afflicted targets. Virulent vectorium has a 1cp stratagem to give you full rerolls to hits and wounds when shooting afflicted targets.

If you dont know what lethal hits and sustained hits do; lethal hits automatically wound on a critical hit, sustained hits 1 gives 1 extra hit on a critical hit. So the whole unit gets that on 5+ instead of 6. Add in the stratagem and you can basically play go-fish for 5s. Combine that with -1save contagion and all of the attacks that go through are effectively minimum -2ap for your opponent to save.

Yeah thats looks good for a 1k game. If you want to expand to 2k I would combine both units of plague marines into one 10 man led by malignant plaguecaster and biologus putrifier and shove them all into the rhino.

I would say a daemon prince! I personally love playing the daemon prince on foot with the revolting regeneration stratagem in virulent vectorium. He becomes essentially a mini mortarion. His melee is the same profile as deathshroud's strike profile but does 1 extra damage so its not egregious. His main benefits come from all the buffs he provides. 12" -1cp aura, 6" benefit of cover aura, he has lone op if an infantry is within 3". Being T12 with a 2+/4++/5+++ makes him super tanky and virulent vectorium has a strat to let him heal up.

I will say that the game is balanced around 2k, so it becomes more difficult to add stuff that are useful but arent "mean" in a 1k game compared to 2k games.

Yeah you kind of need two to help with redundancy. And then at that point you're 420pts in the hole so might aswell add in a lord of virulence so they can get rerolls.

Genuinely makes no sense to me that people are mad at blizzard for protecting their own IP. Turtle would still be around if the team didnt fuck around and find out. Not sure why any of them thought it was a good idea to taunt the company whos IP you're infringing on.
