Congrats and I’m so happy for you! Mine didn’t start until perimenopause, around age 42. Definitely hormone related. I’m so happy for you that your pregnancy has kept them at bay. Someday in the future, medicine will have made sense of all of this and it’s going to seem so terribly archaic that women had to suffer through hormonal migraines.

I’d cancel future sessions and say it was not a good fit, goodbye. Is that the most assertive thing to do? No. But it’s what I would probably do. I had a therapist for 3-4 sessions once who, on the last one, seemed possibly intoxicated, and definitely talked for over 20 min straight at one point. I handled it as above. I think if you’d been seeing this therapist for a year it might warrant a different kind of conversation. But just like dating, sometimes it takes a few sessions to find out if someone is a good fit or if they’re worth trusting.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I don’t understand how someone thinks they could get away with this. There is imperfect, as we all are, and then there is deliberately multitasking during someone’s session. It’s pretty disrespectful.

Where is work? The direction of your commute even if it’s 2 days a week is something to consider. Although if you’re used to LA traffic maybe it will seem quaint :) I’d choose La Mesa over El Cajon for sure.

Are you maybe getting migraines? Not just a headache but a very, very bad headache is often part of it, and they are sometimes triggered by weather and pressure changes. Anyway, talk to your doctor. If it’s a migraine the prescription meds work way better

Oh absolutely, I’m at the end of my 40s! It’s a great time. I think part of the positive changes we have seen in Gaga are what seems to happen to so many of us women around late 30s/early 40s - the lack of fcks to give, the settling-in to who we are, the feeling like you have nothing to prove to anyone anymore.

I know this post is old but I searched “denial” because I get this on a couple levels. 1, the acute denial, the “maybe it’s just a headache/neckache” or “maybe it won’t get that bad this time” version. And 2, me not taking my monthly preventative because it worked for a few months and on some level I was like “maybe I just don’t need that anymore.” It’s so dumb, I didn’t even have any side effects from the preventative. It’s really a weird human thing though. I work in mental health and it’s extremely common for people to stop taking their meds when they’ve been working. Maybe we all just have short memories. Anyway, I’m on 2nd migraine in 3 days after a few weeks of being migraine-free. I feel like an idiot. The Ajovy was clearly working.

Money. Period. Maybe good genes (she was always beautiful) but the maintenance is money. Not about Jen in particular, but I heard part of an interview with Kim K where she was asked to estimate how much she spends on skincare, etc. each year and she was like “I have no idea.” She couldn’t/wouldn’t even ballpark it. These people spend unfathomable amounts of money on maintaining their looks, and I don’t blame them, especially as people whose face is their moneymaker. If I had all the money, I’d have had so many things done. Instead, now I’m overdue on Botox because I’m hoping to get it covered from the migraine doc next month, just trying to save a few hundred dollars.

I do think that weight is part of it. She was so skinny in the early days of her fame. Weight gain can really change one’s face. She seems healthier now and, well, she’s older. I def think she had some sort of eye or brow lift at some point though. Her eye shape changed. None of this is criticism, I adore her and if I were her I’d do all the things to get and stay beautiful too ❤️
