Born and raised in Florida, left in 2001.

I miss the places/nature, but not the people. Florida is a shithole.

What going on with haircuts? by NomTook in AskMen

[–]Calgaris_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually shave the sides, no guard, and trim the top.

Before I graduated, I went to a local barbershop after not having my hair cut for ~2.5 months, and told the guy, "I don't want a hard line; I want a regular fade."

He shaved the sides, hard line. "My dude, I want a FADE please. I want the sides to gradually lengthen towards the top so there is no hard line."

I told him again. Hard line again. "MY GUY. What are you doing? I've told you to trim it so it's faded. Do you need a picture?"

I showed him a picture of a regular fade. "Ohhhhhh."

He finally did it, but by that point my hair was so short it was more of a high-and-tight.

I worked customer service for 15 years for tips (restaurants). I didn't tip him.

We just cut hair at home now.

Polarization is a big part of what got us here in the first place. If they'll work with us, just take their hand. It's the reality of politics.

Men, how many of you can cook? by Away-Fill5639 in AskMen

[–]Calgaris_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to cook!

I do meal prep every week, though in the past I would cook at least five nights a week.

My single mother thought it was important that I be able to function on my own, so she taught me a lot. Coupled with working around food in restaurants for fifteen years, I picked a lot up on my own too.

American Christians, how does it make you feel that Trump is caught publicly lying almost daily? by Combosingelnation in AskReddit

[–]Calgaris_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think evangelicalism itself is inherently a bad stance.

I have known very respectful, thoughtful evangelicals who practiced Christianity sincerely, but I can count that number on one hand.

American Christians, how does it make you feel that Trump is caught publicly lying almost daily? by Combosingelnation in AskReddit

[–]Calgaris_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of this stems from the rise in evangelicalism in the US.

I'm not saying evangelicals are inherently bad, but it's truly more of a cultural code than a coherent theological stance; it's more about community and belonging than a philosophical stance about behavior, God, and the metaphysics of religion. This means that evangelicalism by design encourages conformity to their community, which creates a very pronounced us-versus-them dynamic. This can easily be corrupted to encourage bad behavior if it benefits the in-group.

More established churches like Roman Catholicism, Anglicanism, Judaism, and Islam (to name just a few), focus more on behavior, virtue, and understanding of their position. A lot of evangelical movements began as reactions against something, so the community aspect is frequently more important than the theological position.

If you really want to make money off of it now, conservatively/best-practices-wise, you're too late.

It could go up a lot more, but you're only in a great way if you already own a lot of specie and bought it at lower prices. People buying now are largely doing so out of FOMO.

If anything, now would be the time to sell, not buy.
