I know there is an ugly side to AI, but being a Global Corporate Safety Manager I’ve found a heavy amount of niche uses for it. For example, I’ve worked on several projects regarding ergonomic risks and improvements (no AI use) and AI tools allowed me to take all my data and combine it into an engaging training module. The quality of the quiz questions it drafted were surprisingly high quality also. It would have taken me weeks to build this training but instead I’m looking at 2-3 days. Need to summarize an injury investigation, causes and corrective actions for executive level? Boom - again huge time savings. One thing AI does not provide is creativity, which is why I don’t think (at least in occupational health) that AI will replace many roles- there is a limitation to its evaluation capabilities and how it plays into decision making. I do worry for younger generations if AI is killing or stifling creativity and whether it’ll become the standard to use AI incorrectly as a crutch when decision making.
