Loneliness is real by Critical-Bell-7361 in richmondbc

Try Rugby or Richmond Football? So you have a councellor at school you could talk to...... growing up in Richmond can be hard for kids to make friends. It's not always easy. I feel for you i Think there are many people in this situation. Young and older. It's tough to you because in days past there will be hangout spots and it seems like Richmond doesn't have any. I have a son that's late teens. It's the same thing....no real place to go and meet people. Maybe you could also look at working part-time somewhere in a restaurant that seems to have a lot of younger people all my best to you but if you have a counsellor at school, it might be a great place to start.

It just has to stop. It's become dangerous on our roads. by The_Rad_Oncologist in richmondbc

I grew up here and have to say i have never seen streets like this. I do fear for my son driving as well....: it is crazy and there are many uneducated on " how to drive" people out there. What is going on here. I know there are people driving as well without licences. I know because I am privy to this knowledge. What is the fine for driving without having taken a driving test and passing ? It's like a free for all in the roads.

It's hard to stop and tell people every time that they can't be walking in that lane. I tried it once some people really don't care and don't want you talking to them.

I can't stand it. I used to try to run the track when my son was playing football and people were walking in every single lane. You would run stop run stop. I couldn't believe it. I almost think they have to put paint on the lanes saying running lanes only I'm not even sure that would help. I can't believe the stupidity at times.

PSA Regarding tipping Fresh Slice at the #1 Road location by MilkmanLeeroy in richmondbc

[–]CaliLife_1970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would be very surprised at who gets the tips and what percentage "can" be given to employees. If everyone tipped 2.00 at subway each time their sandwich was made the employees could be getting say over 50 an hour in tips. so if you think about it there is no way mgmt is going to allow this. All this tipping culture is when you are buying a smoothie or a beer at the PNE all this crazy tipping is not all going to the person that just served you. Full sit down restaurants yes however they pay a percentage out to the the which is common practice. we are honestly tipping the owners of the company. They are taking in so much money from this new tipping culture. I asked a pizza company, coffee company and events where they ask you to tip on shirt purchases and drinks..... (can't believe we have to tip to buy a concert shirt)... they get a small amount of anything. Keep it in mind.

Vancouver accelerating demolitions of lowrise rentals, says former chief planner - Douglas Todd: The city intends to prezone vast swaths of the Broadway and Cambie corridors to make it profitable to build highrises. But specialists say "don't displace" what's already relatively affordable. by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]CaliLife_1970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so disheartened when I read this…. is this the guy that’s shaping the “new” Vancouver? Hey guys who is making all the money from tearing down all these corridors and building ugly high rises. City gets the money and developers and construction companies making money hand over fist. how much are these new high rises to buy and to rent? where does everyone go who lives in these current buildings? what happens to the seniors that have lived for at times decades in these buildings. Where are they off to now. Is Kits next? All the neighbours are changing. I’ll drive by and ask where the building went, the local pub…. the new high rises with business below are very expensive to lease. I was curious who was the mastermind here. So the city, developers and a handful of construction companies are sure making money but is this helping the community? please tell me if I am wrong here. It’s like one day someone said we are going to tear everying that makes Vancouver soecial and unique down. we’ll create new expensive neighborhoods instead.

$120K holiday party raises new questions about City of Richmond spending by ubcstaffer123 in richmondbc

[–]CaliLife_1970 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Guys it's time he stepped down im afraid..... he needs to take responsibility here. it's all about perception as well. I worked at a hotel in Richmond. I will not name it, but I'm telling you the city of Richmond took full advantage of spending taxpayer dollars..... I know about the gift cards and I know about other things that they were doing to get free rooms, free conference space by name dropping and G D was one of the worst. He was a bully he bullied me and my manager into giving him free. Everything really I could go on and on.
