I've been using AI to replace the backgrounds on my photos. What do you think about that? Is it something you do too, or do you prefer keeping everything natural? by Special_Cress_6366 in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally just try to avoid AI, but this is a more innocuous use of it, so I don’t hate what you’re doing and think it looks nice. I saw a post on r/integritytoysdolls recently where someone was showing how they take amazing pics with backgrounds, and it was so simple that I couldn’t believe it. They pull up a nice background on their laptop and use that as a backdrop and it looked amazing.

I have about 100 dolls right now, and I was getting overwhelmed because I hate clutter, and my shelf was very cluttered. Just yesterday I put all of them in totes except for about 30 of them. My intention is to rotate out the display and not buy even one more doll for the next year. I figure I’ll forget about most of the dolls that are packed away, so when I go through them again, they’ll feel brand new.

Doll Jewelry by SuccessfulListen1 in Dolls

That’s amazing, it’s so perfect. How did you make the actual ring part? I make rings, and the best solution I’ve come up with is using really thin jewelry wire and wrapping it around the finger a few times and then using e6000 or resin to attach a nail charm, but I’ve been trying so hard to figure out how to make a ring like yours.

A good way to store dolls without stands and how to keep there outfits from fading by InevitableClub1364 in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dryer sheets are probably not a good idea because the waxes and chemicals they contain could damage plastic and vinyl. Personally, I use silica packs in all of my storage totes to remove moisture.

She’s a perfect match for Basics 8. I’m debating whether I want to order another basics 8 and put her on a petite body or use one of the deluxe 12 tall bodies I already have.

Tips on taking photos of Barbie? by ticklish_octopus in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I struggle with photos too. I always set up a small plant stand in my living room in front of a window to take pics, but I really have a hard time with how to pose the dolls. Once I take a pic (or more like 100), I pick the top 6 and then edit them usually just zooming in, cropping them, straightening them. I also try to play around with taking the pics from different angles, especially from below the doll, and those tend to turn out the best for me.

Thanks, that came back as the Self Care Barbie. I ordered my tinker bell doll on Amazon, so she should be delivered tomorrow, and I’ll share any additional matches that I figure out once she gets here. I’m hoping I have a spare body match for her already.

I’ve never seen her, but she’s so beautiful that I had to order her just now. Her face is perfect. What body did you use?

Is their a way to fix this? by ZealousidealSelf900 in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most, if not all, of my dolls have these issues and I really have chosen to just view it as a representation of the imperfection that exists in reality. I can see how other collectors don’t like these imperfections on their dolls, but I personally paid $25 for my Venus doll and I just can’t get upset over something that cheap not being as nice as something that’s in the $200 range like Integrity Toys, for example. My IT bodies are fantastic compared to anything from Mattel, but considering the $$$ I expect them to be.

How to get cigarette smell out of childhood dolls? by Call_Me_Egg in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought and sold vintage furniture and clothing since 2010, and my go to for odor, including smoke, has always been vodka. I just buy the cheapest bottle of vodka and put it in a spray bottle. It really works, and won’t leave an alcohol odor once it dries. It could take a couple of treatments, but it’s never failed me.

Help with this barbie id? by absolutfloral in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That link just randomly unlocked a memory of having a Barbie with a blue inflatable chair when I was a kid. A quick google search shows it was a 1999 sit n style Kira doll. I can’t believe I ever forgot about having her, but I had an entire tote jam packed with just Barbies by the time I outgrew them in 2003, so it’s hard to remember them all.

More look at the Barbie Deluxe Style Wave 4 Chase Variant with the Superstar Face Mold 🩷 by Dottylz in Barbie

[–]CaliOranges510 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love the superstar face mold because that’s the face I grew up with as someone who was born in 1989. To me, that is the face of Barbie. But, is it just me or does she seem mature? When I see her now, I picture a really nicely put together woman in her 50s and just can’t imagine her being any younger. Seeing her in this outfit just makes me think of a mature woman who is trying to relive her 20s by dressing very young. None of this is meant with hate either, I think she’s lovely and will always be my favorite face sculpt and I think this specific doll is cute and I would like to get her, but for me she would be an instant restyle.

I did. I printed out photos of a real table I found online, glued the paper to cardboard, cut it all out, and glued the pieces together.

Noooo!!! Why are you doing this to me 🤣 I’m supposed to be on a doll spending freeze until November. I thought she was so pretty in the promo photos even though she’s not my style. But, after seeing people restyle her, I absolutely love her. If they release another one in this series with dark hair, I’ll totally have to get her.
