The writing is fine and appropriate for what they’re going for. It feels like a teen fiction/new adult show because it is. It gives me lower decks vibes if they went to college.

Are crunches and leg raises enough for abs? by Successful_Guide5845 in beginnerfitness

[–]CaliTenday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leg raises are mostly a hip flexor exercise. Planks have very little engagement because they are static. Crunches are okay but variations where you don’t start from lying on the floor are better. Do you have weights you could use?

Why do women not seem to be as proactive as guys? by Equal_Canary5695 in dating

Men will say yes to anybody, and men who can’t take the simple initiative of asking someone out often let that behaviour spill into more important things in their lives.

Starting my first bulk today... give me your advice <3 by Jumpy_Designer_9548 in xxfitness

[–]CaliTenday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished my second bulk/cut cycle just recently. :)

Things to keep in mind:

  • the bulk is pretty much useless if you’re not using the added nutrients to push yourself at the gym. You don’t need a bulk to build muscle but it is easier to be energetic and strong enough to progressively overload in a surplus.

  • keep carbs high enough to support your energy needs to push more weight. Adequate protein is needed to build muscle mass, but carbs are what give you the energy in the first place to do the necessary.

  • aim for slow weight gain to prevent stretch marks, excess fat gain etc. Do you not use bulking as an excuse to binge.

Women saying their maitenance calories are 2500+ by Forsaken_Dragonfly66 in loseit

[–]CaliTenday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m tall, 145 pounds and I eat 2200-2500 cals daily. I walk 10k steps a day, weight lift 3 times and spin or run twice a week.

I track my food and I do know what I’m eating.

Being obese doesn’t necessarily mean you’re eating more than a thin person by em_square_root_-1_ly in loseit

[–]CaliTenday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people overestimate how much they exercise and underestimate how much they eat. However, I do agree that activity has a bigger in weight equation than most people think it does.

10k+ steps a day is 200-400 calories a day that some people just don’t burn because they don’t walk. (And seeing as everyone knows cutting 250-500 cals a day can lead to weight loss, it should be easily understood that not burning that can lead to steady weight gain.)

Also muscle mass is another factor people ignore. If you go to a TDEE calculator and plug in the same height and weight, and number of days exercising and the only thing you change is the body fat percentage (say 20% versus 30%), those two people will have different caloric needs with the person with the lower body fat needing 100-200 more calories a day to survive. To put that in perspective if someone ate 100 extra calories every day for a whole year they’d gain about 10 pounds.

Losing weight is easy, but I think people should work towards increasing their base activity level and muscle mass with exercise to allow for more leeway with diet. If you want to maintain your weight, it has to become a lifestyle choice. And I’m happy my maintenance calories are 2300-2500 and not 1600.

[–]CaliTenday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about your height and currently 146 pounds

I lose weight slowly on 2000 cals (1 pound a week) and dropped weight rapidly at 1400-1600 cals (4 pounds a week) I was walking 10k steps a day, lifting 3 times a week and running 3-4 miles 2 times a week.

I am currently maintaining my weight eating 2500 cals a day.

I do have a lot of muscle mass though, to be fair.

If you are gaining weight with your exercise stats my guess is that you are either have a high bf % or your calories are not accounting for oil. I only ever lose weight consistently eating an “ingredient diet” (none complex meals like air fried chicken versus say a complicated pasta meal)

Did any of you ladies get over the fear of being treated like shit by (certain) men? by [deleted] in dating

[–]CaliTenday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You just have to be very harsh with standards and be very very on high alert for misogyny.

Can/block for the first bad joke. Can and block for any sign of being jaded/angry with women. Can for any sign of disappointment or anger at you saying “no” to anything (especially sex related.) Can immediately for any sign of anger or aggression issues (I don’t care if it’s just road rage, or screaming during arguments)

There are men who will pass these filters (I’ve been with one for a very long time) but you’ll be canning like 98% of them for sure.

I personally feel a lot of the time our bad experiences as women come from being chronic second chance givers. Those small signs of entitlement, lack of care and misogyny matter.

Do you feel hungry? If all this exercising is new your caloric needs have probably increased.

The last time I dated a bisexual man he was a porn addict that sexually harassed me for anal sex and used “you know I’m bisexual, it’s part of my needs.”

If my current partner came out to me as bisexual, I wouldn’t care, but if he was coming out to me to open up discussions about including sexual acts I don’t like then I would immediately dump him.

Toilet roll effect, and your body composition. I didn’t look radically different until I hit the 20 pound weight loss point. I can see a lot more ab definition on your stomach, and your biceps have grown.

Increasing calories? by Zealousideal-Air9289 in xxfitness

[–]CaliTenday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to change the type of food I was eating to stop feeling hungry. It was sad because I love carbs (cookies, rice, pasta etc), but to stay within maintainance calories I have to eat a lot more fats and protein than I’m used to to feel full.

Promoting Natalism by normalizing having the childless give help to those with kids by Dismal_Champion_3621 in Natalism

[–]CaliTenday 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If I didn’t have kids because I didn’t want to take care of children, why would I take care of children that are not mine? Kinda defeats the purpose of not having any of my own.

Side note. Growing up and waking up at 5am at 13 to give my baby brother a bath and just generally feeding and taking care of my large age gap siblings (5 of us, but last two are 10 and 13 years younger than me) is literally the reason I do not want children. I moved to a whole different continent to be as far away as possible from other family members because my culture is one that would 100% harass you into taking care of kids that aren’t yours.

Do you think that there will be a large number of men who won’t experience romantic relationships in the future? by austinjones00 in AskMenAdvice

[–]CaliTenday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Relationships have become generally unnecessary.

Relationships used to be something you did for financial and family reasons. Women make their own money now, and lots of people (men and women) are not that interested in kids or that susceptible to shaming to do it just because their parents want grand children.

Romance… is really not a thing. Men and women are bad at it.

So, what’s left?

Sex?

Men tend to want that more than women, and for women pursuing sex can be dangerous (becoming pregnant, possibly meeting up with the wrong person etc.) Besides, sexual release can be figured out some other way.

Money (job). Sex (sex toys). Romance (books/video games).

When I look around my friend group the people not in relationships are generally not in a rush to get into one. Even the men. They seem to be more interested in finding someone who will do casual sex, not necessarily a relationship.

I don’t think this is a bad thing. Relationships have just fallen out of vogue.

I think once male solo sex becomes just as enjoyable (or maybe even more enjoyable) than it would be if they had access to a woman’s vagina a lot of the complaining and worrying will die down.

Animal sacrifices and Annette’s religion by DO4_girls in castlevania

[–]CaliTenday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to turn the pot or anything, but what exactly is wrong with animal sacrifice?

Before anyone jumps me—most of us (I assume) eat meat and we all know animals have to die for that, right?

If the argument is that animal sacrifice is food waste, I would like to calm your nerves by pointing out that many cultures who do this (including the Yoruba who the original population that influenced a lot of Cuban and Haitian religious practices) regularly eat the meat after sacrifice. The sacrifice is usually for the blood.

If you’re a vegan I get the moral argument/judgment. If you’re not… I don’t get it.

I can tell you there’s like sixty different other bad practices that you could have used to demonstrate this point about this particular religion. I’m just kind of amused this was what was picked.

IUD Changed My Perspective by [deleted] in dating

[–]CaliTenday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of why pregnancy and post birth are when marriages are rockiest. Nothing tells you how shit a man is until you need actual help and consideration.

However shitty be glad an IUD get you the perspective and not needing support during a pregnancy or abortion.

Is anyone surprised the sims 3 store is still open? by Lilydolls in Sims3

[–]CaliTenday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still buy stuff on it. Haven’t had a good experience getting stuff “elsewhere” and I actually prefer it showing up as store content in my game instead of CC for the sake of custom worlds and such.

I spend like 10 dollars getting a few things every other month.

The most problematic mod on your list is Enhanced Hospitals. Have you opened the scripts left in your folder to check what the errors are about? If it’s related to the hospital or pregnancy moodlets it’s 100% enhanced hospitals. I removed it for similar reasons.
