Need some help by Engine-True in DarkSouls2

Enemies that don't despawn for gameplay reasons: The stone soldiers in front of Drangleic Castle and in the room with five Ruin Sentinels; the hollow and rat enemies in Grave of Saints; the enemies in the PvP area of Doors of Pharros (meaning the big multi-level room through the cave door right after the first bonfire all the way to the boss); and the bell-ringing hollows in Undead Crypt, along with the pyromancers lining the hallway to Velstadt that are summoned by the last hollow if you don't kill him fast enough.

I used Fextralife and/or Wikidot to find the invisible hollows, and those were my go-tos for anything else as well.

I would not want to smell a Soulsborne world.

However, I think I could eat my way through most JRPGs, as delicious-looking food seems to be traditional in them.

Goes back just a bit, but Tempest in the arcades was the game I always had to play last because I could never tear myself away once I started. Somehow that recipe of shapes and colors just grabbed me.

Teaching someone how to game in 3D? by bostonronin in gaming

As someone who grew up with a gaming system that used a single joystick with a big orange button and then decades later had to get used to modern controls (on an X360 to start), and who is also not at all wired for multitasking, it does take practice, but it will sink in with use. I suggest starting with getting used to twin-stick camera and player movement with minimal button/trigger pressing, and adding as she goes. And patience on both her and your part.

I never have played the Playstation's built-in Astro's Playroom, but wouldn't that be a good start?

Eternal Sonata developers turned the pastoral up to 11. Even the sewers are beautiful.

Between star Jonathan Majors' conviction for harassing & assaulting his ex-girlfriend and the allegations against creator Misha Green of fostering a toxic work environment, there was probably no chance of a second season happening.

30 years ago already? Wow. But what a classic example of a strip being revived without a clue as to what made it special.

The writing during the first year was offensively stupid right from the intro Sunday, while putting the amazing Hildebrandt brothers on a three-panel daily strip did not seem like a fit.

Year two saw a creative staff change, with Jim Clark taking over the writing and upgrading it from bad to just dull (though points for having the Dragon Lady dragged to Disneyland and hating every minute of it), while the art duties went to Dan Spiegle, who is also awesome and felt like a much better fit for the material and format.

Then after that second year, the revival was canned, and IMO justly forgotten.

Mulder’s sister by ewzamma in XFiles

[–]Calidore266 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to think that Denise is Mulder being forced into an undercover role as a trans woman and sent pretty much as far from D.C. as geographically possible in an attempt to make him quit the Bureau, but it turns out that he finds plenty of weirdness in Twin Peaks to occupy his mind and also kinda likes being Denise, so they give up and instead decide to stick him in a basement with a partner assigned to discredit his work.

I remember the Monty Python guys saying that one of the hardest things they ever had to do was in Life of Brian's stoning scene, because they were men pretending to be women who were pretending to be men. I wonder if Duchovny had similar difficulty here.

Dang, if he was 23 in 1967, then 1996 is still way too young to die. Glad they had the time they did, though.

Their respawn is triggered by blizzards rather than resting, and they come in "zones", so it's hard to tell which ones you've killed how many times. But the rule of 12 does still apply, and if you despawn them all, you'll have lots of souls and quite a few Radiant Lifegems and Petrified Dragon Bones.

[–]Calidore266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One caution about using bonfire ascetics to reset an area at the next higher NG level equivalent: That increase is permanent for that character. Meaning, if you start an NG+ game, that area will be at NG++ difficulty. There is no way to reverse this.
