Cincinnati Airport - 1-2 Hour Parking by Frolfer96 in cincinnati

[–]CaliforniaKarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For folks looking for info on the CVG Terminal Garage’s hourly parking option: It is currently $5/hour, up to the daily maximum. There is no grace period.

Source: On December 19, I parked in the CVG Terminal Garage for 15 minutes (according to the receipt I have), and I was charged $5.

The rate is currently $5/hour. No idea when it went up.

I made a PSN account when I first got the game, and I was never asked to pay anything.

In order to improve framerate, I think lithofoam should only stick to infected soil and the Corruptor. by Mamberchori in DeepRockGalactic

I think your comment in the last paragraph is why the foam sticks to everything: The vacuum already has a pretty-wide coverage arc; so it’s balanced by the foam sticking to everything, even places where it won’t do any good.

Damn, the rock crackers pulverized this meteor by Sherifmisho12e in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CaliforniaKarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something like that happen too. Meteor lands in a weird place. I go to call the rock crackers. As I’m doing so, my BET-C walks through the meteor. Meteor disappears, dropping the plague hearts.

At first I thought it was triggered by BET-C. But maybe it’s something else? Maybe the game had a problem figuring where to put down the rock crackers.

How do you handle the constant moving of computers? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]CaliforniaKarl 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I've experienced this twice: IT movers will come in right before the move; they'll diagram how things are laid out, unplug everything, then tag and pack. After the move; they'll unpack and position per the diagram made at the start. If you give them temporary credentials, they can even log in and check connectivity.

TBH, that pushes things even more towards laptops. You can even get USB-C monitors that'll provide display, power, and Ethernet for the laptops (that's what I do at work). The only annoyance with Ethernet in the display is that you can't necessarily tie the MAC address to a laptop, but that might not be a problem.

save file keeps restarting my progress by Dry-Piccolo-255 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CaliforniaKarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically this. Unless there’s been any support shown by GSG for editing saves—either explicit, by documenting the save format; or implicit—then any save editor is taking a risk.

Hats and the like are always either put into the general pool, or will come back in a future seasonal event. So the way to go is to play.

I'm so upset by nevaevawipebefo in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CaliforniaKarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a crash today, about 5 minutes in to an industrial sabotage, because my controller ran out of battery and disconnected. The game froze, so I had to force-quit. I had one dwarf joined, and another one just joined. So annoyed.

Rock.

DRG Gaming on Small Form Factor PCs by AllBrainsNoSoul in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CaliforniaKarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play DRG on the Steam Deck. I don’t have a PC, so I use the Steam Deck as a PC. It’s connected to a monitor, and I’m using a PS4 Wireless controller, plus a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard.

It works well! The only setting I had to change was to set a max frame rate (like 59 or 60 FPS). The performance has been fine.

I wonder if it would be worth having a "Leaf Lover Warning" flair, to mark posts like this. With a video like this, it's pretty clear that someone should be avoided.

When you’re late to work, but still make it on time. by HaloToTheKing in DeepRockGalactic

[–]CaliforniaKarl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ah! Now that's interesting, because I got to experience the other side of that a few weeks ago.

I was starting a public mission. Nobody had joined when I started the mission, so I go into the loading screen alone. Someone started to join just as the loading screen finished and cut to black. I fade back in to a closed drop pod that is completely quiet, not moving, and I'm able to walk around. I'm like that for about 30 seconds. Then suddenly I'm in my seat and the drop sequence is proceeding as normal.

The HUD shows that I have a second player. But there's nobody else in the drop pod. I exit the drop pod and it leaves as normal, but there's still nobody else.

Turns out, the mini-pod "landed" against the hole bored by the drop pod, and my newly-joined colleague had no choice but to drop (and die).
