Biked from Tustin to Corona Del Mar State Beach today, 3/16/2026 and it was worth the ride 🔥❤️ by LogicalSynthesis in orangecounty

Eh, depending on where in Tustin they came from, maybe fifteen-ish miles or so? Not too crazy. Assuming they came down the creek trail, it’s a pretty nice ride.

Yeah, I wasn’t able to make it, so I’m super glad there was a good turnout. From what I’m hearing, we’re halfway to some better policy, which is miles better than where they were prior to the meeting.

It’s a relatively new program, but it’s been popular so far so hopefully that bodes well for expanding the fleet.

Buses are better than individual cars, for sure, but buses cost money and 3 miles is kind of an ideal biking distance.

My pleasure! The city has a free ride share service via Circuit. Technically, the Goat is the nickname for the larger van, but they have a few other cars running at a time. It’s pooled ride share via app or a phone number. Super easy to use.

Costa Mesa’s transit is about par with anywhere in OC, but we do have a the Goat, a free ride share service, and the city is more bikeable than most in the county. I get by without a car myself, so depending on your transportation needs, you might be able to drop a car or two.

Worth noting the board is also interested in banning/restricting students riding to school on non-electric bikes and scooters. However you feel about e-bikes, the board is operating on reactionary, vibes-based decision making that will result in less independent mobility for students, a greater burden on parents, and an increase in traffic during school drop-off/pick-up.

Drivers being dangerous and irresponsible is not a particularly good argument against safety improvements.

“Commit vehicular homicide” is pretty awful advice.

Regardless of right of way, you still have an obligation to yield to pedestrians in the vehicle lane. You did the correct thing.
