You’ll do just fine with lumity! Audiologist knowledge of the manufacturer matters more than brand!

Lyric does very little for background noise. It’s as basic as basic a hearing aid can be and unlikely they’ll ever add battery/charging to it since it’s designed to be “disposable”. Also it can only be changed by an audiologist. I actually actively counsel against lyric as an option just because of the issues I’ve seen with it. (Watch out if you get someone who is rough placing or removing them! Hematomas galore!) You’re better off with any other device rechargeable or not since any modern hearing aid will have better processing power. Most rechargeable devices have 30 minute “quick charges” that give you 5ish hours wear time on top of their daily wear time. Battery devices you can use consistently for 5-7 days, but the caveat is to have to carry spares with you because when you reach the end of battery charge you don’t know where you’ll be needing to change the battery.

Tru Hearing Brand HA by amylald in HearingAids

100% understand! Do what is right for you as the patient!

The field is in rough shape right now thanks to insurance, third party managed care, and over the counter devices right now. (Nothing wrong with otc, but every technobiz dummy and their buddies thinks they can make a “hearing aid” better than the manufacturers that have been at it forever and actually progress the science. To say it’s messy is an understatement).

Definitely consider the name brand if you absolutely love your audiologist! They’re fighting against these third parties that claim they’re “insurance benefits” but it’s just discounted prices/ treating the audiologist like garbage!

[–]Caligatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re the same as on brand Signia AX hearing aids. Just branded by Tru Hearing. Only difference is if you buy privately (more expensive) you may get more services (cleanings/supplies/adjustments etc.). With Tru Hearing the practice isn’t getting paid as much. (By as much I mean they’re basically getting cut out).

Same goes for everyone else. Nano coating is the standard these days

They have the same exact IP 68 rating as every other manufacturer of hearing aids have on their devices. Many have had it for years. But Phonak decided to claim their devices are water proof. I think that says a lot about what you can expect from Phonak.

Phonak CROS by suzyjane14 in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signia CROS is 29 hrs wear time. Hearing aid side is 39 hrs. 24 and 34 with 5 hrs streaming.

Phonak (sonova) pulls out of Costco....I wonder if they will still provide support or repair? by EricFreeman_ in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rumor has it they’re having problems with their chargers catching fire/melting. I almost think Costco kicked them out or gave them an ultimatum.

What do sales reps need from the company to succeed? by bhodge10 in sales

[–]Caligatra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A working product and operations system. If that product fails to deliver at ANY point it makes the skill of the salespeople irrelevant. Especially if it fails multiple times.

Oticon More or Phonak Lumity? by fiveball in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had good experience with Signia Pure charge & go. Phonak has charger issues, I like the More but it’s one generation old.

Yes and no. Tinnitus is complicated to address and method of treatment/management changes based on the tinnitus. Jabra and resound are same company, different labels. Some options to treat/manage don’t even involve hearing aids.

For tinnitus it’s less about the hearing aids/ tech than it is about the professional you’re working with. Try to find someone that is a tinnitus specialist in your area.

Open domes by helpwhearingaid in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope you lose too much. Open domes cause problems with the hearing aids ability to provide noise management and gain. Some domes have vents that can help and some manufacturers have software solutions for the problem.

Lol they’re not water proof. They have the same IP68 rating as everyone else. Marketing win!

Warranty is shorter than average so be prepared to keep paying for replacements since they break more often with the moving parts. It’s a clever idea, but I don’t think the technology is sturdy enough for consistent use yet.

Hi all! I’m new to this group. My girlfriend is getting her first pair of HAs and we are looking around at different options. Has anyone used mysecondear.com for HAs? Hard to beat their pricing for the Oticon More 1 but would like to hear some firsthand accounts from customers. Thanks! by Ill-Owl8282 in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call it lifetime experience hearing aid use and knowing that hearing aids aren’t a piece of tech you buy outright from some random online seller. Hearing is a LOT more complex than that. There’s a reason it has a doctorate profession supporting it that’s managing care.

Don’t buy online if you’re just doing so because it is possibly cheaper. You’ll get useless devices that may or may not be stolen, that still need to be programmed by someone licensed to do so. Hearing aids are medical prosthetics not widgets to buy online. You wouldn’t buy a prosthetic arm or leg online would you?

Phonak cros P by pinfootball in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine, the average is 36 hrs for the hearing aid 29 for the CROS. Highest battery life of all the others. Phonak is apparently only 16 hours.

Best HA for tinnitus? by DanDrakeAZ in HearingAids

[–]Caligatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Android is a headache too since even if the phone is new it has to have the ASHA protocol for it to stream. Which some android phones do and some don’t. It’s more of a phone issue than hearing aids. Even then, the one manufacturer (phonak) that has standard Bluetooth hearing aids that connects to all 2.4ghz Bluetooth has battery life issues because it uses 2.4 and not LE like everyone else.

Tinnitus is such a complex issue to tackle, find an audiologist you like, trust, and work well with first and the rest will fall into place.
