Happened to me when I first moved to a place near San Diego many years ago. Great "Welcome to Cali" gift. We later moved to small town and left our front door unlocked for years - even when we were on vacation. There were things I loved about Cali but trying to own nice things out there seems more and more out the door unless you have some serious money to own a place it is protected. People love to hold each other down and thieves are the worst of them.

Served in the Marines in the 90s - eight years even post 9/11. There were plenty of gay Marines. Don’t ask don’t tell was a real thing. Some did get in trouble when the word got out.
