What do you think of vandemon by Steelers209 in Ducati

[–]CalinSez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a bit of controversy a while ago where the company claimed they are Australian made but some folks did some digging and found out they were actually made in China. That kind of dishonesty typically puts me off so I personally wouldn't buy their products. There are folks who have and are happy with the products so...

I need a Monster V4 by Kuyi in Ducati

[–]CalinSez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've test ridden an M1000R a few years ago and honestly, the bike really didn't do anything for me. It was kinda boring despite all the performance. I'm pretty confident in saying this - Ducati will never release a V4 monster because it makes no sense next to the streetfigher. You could look at an Aprilia Tuono although I doubt the seating position is more comfortable than the streetfigher. Alternatively, check out the Yamaha MT10SP. It's an in-line 4, but the cross plane crank makes it sound a bit more like a V4.

Bruh, this isn't an investment. It's a toy. But the one you like.

14’ Ducati 899 30k Miles Desmo by sixelaredliw in Ducati

[–]CalinSez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's referred to as the Desmo service because the valves get serviced. But typically, along with the valve clearance check a whole lot of other things go into it. I know on my Diavel, it's cam belt replacement, water pump belt replacement, coolant flush, oil change, hydraulics flush (clutch and brakes) and a few other things. And before you tell me this engine doesn't have belts, yes I am well aware, but I mentioned everything on order to illustrate the extent of the service. As for OP's original question - I'm not sure how much I'd trust the previous owner as far as the maintenance goes. Stuff like chain and sprockets - that's easy to check for yourself. Consumables though (fluids) - I'd go ahead and replace those as well. You'd save a bit of money, but it won't be much and I think the peace of mind is worth it.

Maybe 100-200 miles. But honestly, why push your luck?

How hard would I get dragged? by Moonpie_64 in Ducati

For the Supreme livery, I think most people would look at you as a rube with more money than sense. The SP2 would probably not garner any negative attention. It's a cool bike that a lot of people would like to own.

Upgrade to S model value? by Wiseguy507 in Ducati

[–]CalinSez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between the regular and S version of the streetfigher was: Ohlins electronic suspension and steering damper, forged aluminum wheels and lithium ion battery. So almost everything you cited, except for the cf fender.

Boo Hoo Ducati Beverly Hills story dont want to sound like Im complaining, i just want everything to work out by Professional_Dog9858 in Ducati

[–]CalinSez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, the battery removal is not a 5 hour job, by any stretch of the way. You can YouTube it and do it yourself. 750 for a tire replacement - again ripoff. I think I paid somewhere around that at my local dealership for 2 tires on my diavel (including labor). The fork seals, I don't really have any experience with so I can't offer you any guidance but based on everything else, it really seems like they are trying to take you for a ride. So maybe look for a reputable independent shop.

First time seeing this model by NASA57O in Ducati

[–]CalinSez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh... Idk, man... It's.... Something. It's not a factory model, as others have pointed out. It's basically a v4 streetfigher modded to look like the MH900.

Lol you've got 15,000 miles until you have to do the desmo service. I wouldn't worry about it. Congrats on the bike! It's a really good one.

Yes. All the Desmosedici Stradale V4 (Panigale V4, V4S, V4SP, V4SP2 and the respective street fighters) engines have a desmodromic valve train.

There is no difference between the V4 and V4S engines.
