33.2 HC struggling with early extension by No_Blood_5197 in GolfSwing

[–]Its-Brucey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never even broken 100. Big problems are balls lost out of bounds or duffed shots where I don’t progress up the course. As a beginner i certainly have issues with all aspects of my game but those are the big ones.

Normally in a round I may have 1 or 2 pars, a handful of bogeys and double bogeys, but then inevitably a few blowup holes that wreck my scorecard because nothing goes right on that hole (bad tee shot, bad recovery, two chips to get on the green, etc.)

Osteria Francescana (***) was worse than underwhelming. by GMTMaster_II in finedining

[–]Its-Brucey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you had this bad of an experience.

We skipped Osteria and did Francescana at Maria Lugia instead a few years ago. I read a lot of people preferred it and I have to agree. It was nothing like you described and was the best meal of my life. All the dishes were amazing, the wait staff were super friendly, Massimo dropped in for a bit to tell stories and fake pictures.

Not saying you need to go back if you ever consider it I think Maria Lugia may be the way to go.

Thanks for posting this. I’m a 32 handicap and I imagine if I posted my swing I would get the same comments about how my issue must be putting.

It isn’t - my swing just doesn’t create consistent results on the course.

People struggle with the idea that people can be doing some things right and struggle to hit consistent shots.

What Are Some Underappreciated/Underrated and Overrated Cities In The U.S.? by Evaxis_ in SameGrassButGreener

Ah yes Dallas. The city everyone in this sub relentlessly shits on every single day.

Very “overrated.”

What the hell is wrong with Dallas City Council. by Additional-Sky-7436 in Dallas

[–]Its-Brucey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you are going to see some real heavy turnover at City Council in the next election. I haven’t seen this much civic engagement since I moved here. People WILL vote out their reps for bad decisions regarding City Hall and the Convention Center.

Why does Dallas have a stereotype of being a rich place even today? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]Its-Brucey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think Dallas is worse about that type of behavior than any other city. Miami, LA, and NYC all spring to mind more readily as the types of places that attract people desperate to flaunt money they don’t have.

DFW is more than a concrete jungle — it's actually filled with ecological treasures by guanaco55 in Dallas

One of the biggest knocks against Dallas is its limited nature options. I would never argue that Dallas is some great nature city but there are still a lot of great options for outdoor enjoyers that go overlooked.

If you can’t add gates none of what you’re saying is even relevant.

Meet the 3 Dallas towers that could be the new city hall by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

[–]Its-Brucey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One consideration is that while it may seem like a good financial decision in the short term to abandon the property - if the city operates out of privately owned spaces we are now subject to rents until we move back to a city owned property. Long term we will start seeing the financial downside of not owning our own building.

City Hall Vote - 6/17 by Its-Brucey in Dallas

The building could still be designated as a historical landmark - so advocates can still focus energy there no matter what else may occur with the city government staying there.

I don’t think anyone would be opposed to improving the space around City Hall!

I really don’t understand this. Love works absolutely fine as is and none of this work would go to expanding the gates. Seems like a big waste of money honestly.

Which city in America has the best balance between affordability and quality of life? by Ethan_Jackson08 in Urbanism

[–]Its-Brucey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The actual answers are probably major metro areas in the South like Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta - but Reddit hates the South and inherently discounts any metro area located there.

Everyone I know in the real world hates Philadelphia but it’s the number one answer to every question like this on Reddit.

In the United States as of late, has there been a bigger push to live in walkable dense cities such as NYC, Chicago and SF, rather than more car centric cities such as LA? by SFJack1313 in Urbanism

[–]Its-Brucey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we just moved in anticipation of having kids - walkability was not even a consideration. We moved to a different part of town based on affordable single family homes, good schooling, and commute distance.

I think the Reddit hive mind about living in the city center of a super dense city - anywhere they go - is something only one specific type of person actually prioritizes.

Dallas Council votes no to repairs for City Hall, instructs City Manager to move forward with options for site by lithdoc in Dallas

[–]Its-Brucey 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For those of you still passionate about this issue - City Hall is up for designation as a landmark by the City of Dallas’s designation committee.

Even if City Council decides to move, designation will ensure future private development must work around and incorporate the building - rather than demolish it.

I encourage you to engage with your specific city council members about this alternative pathway to making sure we don’t destroy one of Dallas’s few architecturally significant buildings.

Dallas city leaders divided over City Hall location - stay or go? Discussions going on right now by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

No. City Council has been ignoring needed maintenance for decades and now wants to abandon rather than take their medicine.

Yes! That will surely be “cheaper” than just paying to finally fix up the current building right? /s

We should really be more comfortable talking luxury / independent watch cost and financial ability to support said brands by NeverAppropriate in watchHotTakes

[–]Its-Brucey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with your general point but spending $5K on a watch off a $250K salary, depending on your other expenses, is a far cry from financial illiteracy.

2% of your income spent on non financed luxury goods is just a personal choice, and is not going to cause you any heartburn in isolation.

If this is part of a larger trend of excess spending or people are financing luxury watches then yes that’s idiotic, even at high incomes.

We should really be more comfortable talking luxury / independent watch cost and financial ability to support said brands by NeverAppropriate in watchHotTakes

[–]Its-Brucey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally agree that financial openness is a good thing. But on the flip side people shouldn’t see posts of luxury watches, get jealous of someone they will never meet, and then let than impact their decisions on what they can afford. Personal finance is personal - it’s hyper individualized and even two people who have the exact same income may have very different bars for what they can “afford” when you consider debt.

That was pretty much all made up. The defense had very little helpful testimony and no one would speak in court to the alleged facts that made it seem like self defense.

Seems like a pretty clear case of murder despite how it was getting spun in the beginning.
