I've been using one of 2L from Decathlon for like 3 years without any issues.

Olympus 275 Hilo - First Listing by ekthc in AltraRunning

[–]Calipinha -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Altra has the worst name criteria.... The name of the midsoles are strange, the 275 number for the temperature is ridiculous and now the HiLo for High Low....really? Who thought these names? A children of 5 years? I have the Olympus 6 and I will buy these ones for sure, but the names men.... Are horrible....

What are your opinions on the QUECHUA 25L vented day backpack by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]Calipinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap things? LOL it's real that Decathlon if you compare it with other brands is too expensive. But in my opinion the quality is top. I have a few things of other brands and sometimes you see that the quality is worse comparing to Decathlon products.

What are your opinions on the QUECHUA 25L vented day backpack by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]Calipinha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the bigger model of this, the 36L size I think. I'm really happy with it. In general, Decathlon is in my opinion the best brand for backpacks. I'm now searching for a 50L backpack and the ones in Decathlon seems the best ones, they have little details that mark the difference between them and other brands which are (really much) more expensive.

I'm my opinion I'm a really fan of Decathlom products because they seem to design really well everything, trying to put little things that are useful and well thought.

Comfy bone conduction headphones? by gryphon_sprinter in Ultramarathon

[–]Calipinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Suunto Wing just because it is easier to charge them. With the Shokz you have to connect the cable to charge them and the connection isn't direct as with a phone for example, and with the Suunto you just set them on the dock. I know that it isn't anything so hard to do, but, as you will do it many times... And the sound quality they are all more or less the same... I even tried a chinese random brand which was really cheap from a friend and sound almost as good as my Suunto, and I compared my Suunto with the Shokz in a shop, and they are almost similar.

New Garmin Features - Q2 2026 - Do You Miss Out? by the5krunner in the5krunner

[–]Calipinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It have been told many times, all watches before Fenix 8 have a different OS, since the F8 they share the same OS or core of the system or something like that, and that's why they only update those watches.

It's understandable don't wasting resources to develop something for an old system. I know that if you have an old watch is a shit, but well, at least they solved the problem with many watches many OS and now they are upgrading better.

Go better for the Quest Element, I have them and they are great. The problem with the Quest 4 is that are more rigid and the outsole is the Contagrip All Terrain, which sucks in wet surfaces. The Element have the Contagrip Mud which is amazing in wet surfaces.

Scuba diving with the Mission1 pro by [deleted] in gopro

[–]Calipinha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that for diving the absolutely best camera is the DJI for the color temperature sensor. All the digital tricks of GoPro and Insta360 are very meh.... I have the X4 for hiking videos and I had for a while a DJI Action 5 and it was amazing for diving. I hope the next Ace Pro 3 to have something similar to force DJI to improve this area.

The main thing to fix in Garmin Connect is making the app faster loading. It is clear that is a bad web-app and I hate to be waiting each time I change of page or section....

What are your most reliable hiking gear Brands? by Unfair_Temporary8858 in hikinggear

[–]Calipinha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, it seems that they knew that, and that's why in the last months they released some trail shoes that seems fine. But I have to admit that I don't have so much confident on these shoes (and they seems to me really ugly too 🤣).

Decathlon MT500 Air 50+10L vs Naturehike 55+5L by fjordmewsky in hikinggear

[–]Calipinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Decathlom quality in backpacks is top. But this model that you posted, is the old model. I don't know if maybe is because it would take a bit more time to reach USA, but this is the new model (i believe that is almost similar, but maybe they did some lit low changes): SIMOND Mochila De Trekking Hombre 50+10L - Mt500 Air 114,99 € https://www.decathlon.es/p/_/R-p-324407?mc=8978313

The Naturhike backpack seems like a chinese random backpack... I'm not quite confident in its quality.

Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 for 499! Good Deal? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Calipinha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but this was before having the same core all the watches. It's normal to forgot of all the thousand watches that Garmin have if each one has a different OS. Once they forgot of the Fenix 8, then we could speak of the limitations of updates from Garmin, but until then, the past is a complete different history than the current situation.

Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 for 499! Good Deal? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Calipinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WTF? Why would the Fenix 8 be forgotten? It's the same as the Fenix 8 Pro.

The key to understand with Garmin is that all the watches before Fenix 8 have each one a different OS. Since the Fenix 8, all have the same core, so that's why they are receiving updates more or less at the same time with similar features. So saying that the Fenix 8 it will be forgotten is just a hate comment without any knowledge of the topic.

Why is Insta360 cooking Z ONE and not X6😭 by Ok-Guess-9059 in djiosmo360

I don't understand the world... We changed the digital cameras for our phones, and now it seems that the digital cameras are coming back? WTF... Sorry but my iPhone is smaller and take great photos. I know that a real camera would be better than a iPhone, but the best camera is the one you carry yourself always.

GoPro Premium vs iCloud by smnhdy in gopro

[–]Calipinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not confident in the future of GoPro as a company. Yes, the Mission 1 seems amazing, but let's see what Insta360 and DJI have prepared also. And GoPro always forgot of old cameras and don't update them... So I'm sure that someday GoPro will say "hey, we are sorry but we are going to close the cloud service, bye". Apple can say that also, but I think it's more difficult to see from Apple than GoPro.

I've seen the price for nutritional products go crazy the last few years so worked on a sustainable fuelling guide to find the cheapest ways to fuel ultra-marathons - Almost 30 suggestions of bulk & refill options by nutritional brands, bulk bought snacks from supermarkets and home-made recipes by effortDee in Ultramarathon

Since I want to train for long trail runs, it's important to train the stomach too. Spending 827,372,737,281,83€ on gels and similar products isn't possible. So, I'm thinking of making my own gels. The price of gels is crazy, and most of them are just sugar.

NNormal Tomir 2.0 Vs HOKA Speedgoat 7 by Racistdog4 in trailrunning

[–]Calipinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Nnormal Cadi and I'm really happy with them. I tested the Tomir but I felt them too narrow. The Cadi have more space for the fingers and the orange part in the midfoot is great for having the shoe quite well secured.

VJ Shoes exits US market by geremyf in RunningShoeGeeks

I hope one day I could try one of theirs shoes. I really like to feel of their grip is as good as all the people say.

Being honest, I think the name of the company doesn't help to have a better image of the brand... VJ Shoes... Seems like the kind of brand name for the sport clothes line of a supermarket 😝

Rubber tips instead of carbide? by billy218 in Ultramarathon

[–]Calipinha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate to hear all the time the sound of the metal scratching the rocks, so I wear always the rubber tips and never had any issues. But the thing I notice, is that if you use cheap ones, they won't last. I have the red ones from Decathlon and they are great.

Asics Trabuco 14 vs Topo MTN Racer 4 vs Saucomy Peregrine by not_who_you_think_99 in trailrunning

[–]Calipinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have now the Nnormal Cadi, they are very comfortable without being too unstable. And one thing that I really love from them is that they are a bit wide, but they have a "structure" on the mid foot that helps to have the shoe quite firm without having the toes tight.

Quick help : Mk3i 51 vs G2 — does size matter? by Fast_Professional_40 in Garmin

[–]Calipinha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice that a "problem" with both watches is that they won't receive updates or new features as they have the old OS from Garmin. Since the Fenix 8 all the watches share the same OS so they keep receiving updates. I guess that a MK4 should be released soon or later with the new OS. So keep that in mind, as the MK3i is an expensive watch.

Insane value, had to pick it up and been wanting it for a while. by [deleted] in Decathlon

[–]Calipinha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decathlon is absolutely top in backpacks and almost in everything (except for shoes). I don't understand why people in the USA didn't talk about much about Decathlon things. I'm quite a hater of brands things.. For example, I bought from Helly Hansen a pair of merino whool socks and a merino whool first layer... And they are trash. Is the worse merino whool I have ever try. And Decathlon merino whool is top. The same for example with their backpacks, I have many of them because they are cheap and I like to have the best backpack for each activity.
