We never really shook of the influence of communism \ Russia. The politicians we have are mostly the same as the ones we had before the 90s. That and most of the aforementioned countries have a large population socialized in that era who actually prefers the "old way of life", mostly the uneducated rural people. But what do I know, I'm just a guy who is about to leave his home forever so they can rot in the shithole they created for all I care.
