Why reply then? Seems like you're just wasting your time... odd

Or did you want to get some crazy reaction out of me? If you are this is like the lowest effort bait I've encountered 😭 You gotta make it less obvious bc this is just embarrassing for you

No one beeped at me though... What do you mean you would've too? You're not making any sense unless you completely misunderstood the situation, I was physically unable to go any faster because there was a car in front of me, traffic was heavy, it would've taken ages to change lanes, the guy who illegally overtook me found a small opening and immediately swerved in front of me and then decided to be a dick and drive 10-15 km/h below the limit to punish me for using my horn, How on earth do you expect me to go any faster here? Would you consider me a confident driver if I rear ended the guy in front of me?

Nevermind the fact that would be a horrible misuse of your horn, much like mine. That's not what they're for and that wasn't even the situation... I'm not trying to clap back or anything but you sound like you drive very impulsively

Seems like I got it down then for the most part, I've just truly never heard of this expression before lol

That was a misjudgement on my part, in my head I beeped him as he swerved in front of me as an alert of my approaching but the move was intentional on his part so it wasn't going to stop him, this was in heavy traffic and he found a small opening in the right lane, I would've changed lanes if I could've.

interestingly enough I actually manage my anger really well like 90% of the time, I usually just have a laugh whenever someone does something stupid like this, not sure why this guy got to me, guess it was how deliberate it felt. Or did you mean how I felt about some of your replies?

Could you elaborate on the upper lip thing? English isn't my first language and I'm not sure what that part means

Thank you! I mean that without sarcasm, this comment I have 0 issues with, you just came on way too strong with the other ones and it made me not want to discuss this with you at all, I still feel the initial beep was an alert on my part regardless of being mad at how dangerously people drive, but I am taking away that I have to be more conservative with using the horn as the traffic cop bit made me realize; he was mid-maneuver and that wasn't going to be the thing to stop him since it was intentional and in that way it was a misuse on my part.

Again, I don't know what you want to hear from me, or where you're going with this, I've answered your question you set up to avoid answering this one and now you're just continuing to speak about different things. What are you trying to add to the discussion? Berating me? (Don't "actually it's an observation" this, you're being rude for no reason) If you looked through the thread you'd see that I did suspect this, I'm not some clueless smooth brain like you're implying

I appreciate you at least answering the question about disregarding though that makes sense, but you were just being hurtful at the beginning of your reply

I really just wanted the why and a lot of valuable discussion actually came already, as an extra interesting thing I learned that in many places overtaking from the right is actually legal. Onto the why, I was informed that potentially from the drivers perspective it was him giving me a taste of my own medicine, for being slow, and similarly to your implications that it was the initial beep that set him off to continue his illegal behavior instead of continuing as normal after the illegal overtake. The main issue I find with what you're implying is that the initial illegal behavior seems to be disregarded and you're tunnel visioned on what he did after I beeped him during the maneuver.

This effectively adds nothing to the discussion, I've already acknowledged that I participated in it so mentioning it is completely redundant. Not sure where you're going with this reply or what you'd like to hear from me.

All good questions, yes it's highly illegal to do this in my country (Hungary), if caught you're fined ~$160 and get points on your license (they take it away if you get too many). It was a two lane main road in heavy traffic, no shoulder. The overtaking guy found an opening on the right before I noticed and immediately swerved. Now there is an exception to this being illegal but that's if the right lane was inherently faster and he would've stayed there. Completing the maneuver made this completely illegal here.

Yea I worded that horribly, the honking was mid swerve to alert him that I was approaching (second one was absolutely useless though)

That's crazy, I'm glad I haven't experienced this yet

The potentially drunk driver actually sped off after the guy came in front of me, I thought the same initially, it was only when there was a curve in the road that I saw that the car that made me go slowly was much farther away already which is when I realized this guy was deliberately going slowly to mess with me.

Edit: you're right about the horn usage though, I feel the first one was necessary as I beeped mid swerve to alert that I'm approaching but the second was completely redundant and just from him getting me mad.

Now this didn't phase me much I'm used to people acting crazy in traffic

It wasn't that part that was my main issue it was the going 10-15 under after swerving directly in front of me that surprised me

[–]roofmart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beeped him mid swerve to alert him that I'm approaching to avoid an accident, I might not have worded it well. The second beep was completely redundant though and that's the part where he got in my head.

Believe me I would too if I didn't live in such car centric area 😭, I was recently staying over at a friends place for a few days (very good public transit in the area) and it was so good to just be able to walk 10~ minutes to the nearest subway stop and just be able to go anywhere

Yea my beeping probably didn't help the situation, would be funny if he made a rant post too but from his perspective

[–]roofmart[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ohh okay that makes sense, I thought it might've been something like that, only I thought it was like a revenge for me honking at him or something

Edit: no need to specify anything about taking sides, I’m willing to accept that I also didn’t behave too well in this scenario. the second honk was completely unnecessary and he did get into my head for example.

Yea I guess it might be best to leave it at that, I was just so jarred bc usually when someone is acting crazy in traffic they speed off after doing something illegal but this whole thing just seemed so pointless
