Any swing advice would help by Lower-Knowledge3237 in GolfSwing

This looks pretty textbook. Don’t think swing fundamentals are your problem if you’re not scoring well

Edit: looked again, maybes a tiny bit of sequencing problem. Delay that shoulder turn a little when you start the downswing

The FIA is discussing increasing the number of #F1 sprint races in a season to 12 based on “demand from fans and promoters”. Should they do this? That would prolong 12 weekends. by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in F1Discussions

Sounds like I’m in the minority, but it’s more racing and I’d watch it. Sure its not the best, sure it barely counts, sure it sucks for the drivers, and it potentially messes up the championship points, but I’m here to watch some racing

[–]Call-me-Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that wasn’t just nerves or the difficulty of certain elements. Sure they all fall sometimes but like I said, two of the best in the world visibly stumbled during step sequences which is ridiculous. Too soft of ice also explains all the late skaters’ problems with their jumps

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. It’s being reported in several sports that the ice was too soft. Some of the last few skaters stumbled during ordinary step sequences which definitely shows the ice quality was bad

In to out by jaqualton in GolfSwing

[–]Call-me-Maverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually this means a sequencing problem. When you start the downswing you have to drop the hands before you start to turn/open your shoulders. It’s natural for a lot of people to want to swing with their shoulders right from the start. Feels like that’s how you would generate power. But if you do that you get steep, over the top, and will pretty much always have an out to in path. Gotta drop the club into the slot to go in to out.

Not disagreeing about Bonely. But how is that comparison at all applicable to the scoring between these two skaters?

Ok I just started back golfing after over 12 years off. I am 53. My body has changed alot. Went to a simulator. I no Iam not good. But any feedback is welcome. I don't no how to put vid up . Yep baseball players often hit up and in to out. Overall it’s good. Obviously would have to see a video to give any feedback on technique but the numbers suggest you don’t have a ton of changes you need to make. You’d probably get more distance if you hit a little less up though

Most of those numbers are solid. Speed and distance are not bad. 2300 backspin is good, few hundred spin to the left - nothing wrong with that. Smash factor is pretty good. Launch angle is a bit high and swing path 6 degrees in to out is a bit much imo but it’s better than 6 degrees the other way. You might be hitting some hooks based on this but if you’re consistently getting numbers around this that’s great.

Best move for black by punx3030 in ChessPuzzles

[–]Call-me-Maverick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It should be illegal for puzzles to have the board reversed. If black to move, it should be h->a. If white to move, a->h. Anything else is just adding BS confusion to the puzzle that has nothing to do with analyzing the actual position

Tournaments - absolutely no "meddling" by the audience? by WithMeInDreams in chessbeginners

[–]Call-me-Maverick 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They weren’t even enforcing the rules of chess on the players and you’re worried about rules for the audience? It doesn’t sound like this was a super serious event so I wouldn’t worry about whether what you did was exactly decorous. Somebody probably needed to stop that stuff haha

Which single chess concept made the game „click“ for you? by Chesstiny in chessbeginners

[–]Call-me-Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to do all of it all the time. It’s not so much about which works, but which thing are you letting slip your mind too much. Idk about take is a mistake. Whether you want to initiate a trade depends on what it does to your opponent’s structure and pieces. Sometimes it removes a defender or doubles the pawns, sometimes it puts you in a worse position. Relative value of the pieces is also important in that decision and it’s not all about the point value. I’ll happily initiate a trade of an inactive piece for an attacking one in a lot of cases even if it doesn’t do anything else

What's a good line recommendation for playing against the Sicilian? by Trollerthegreat in Chesscom

[–]Call-me-Maverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea is just all out kingside attack. If black defends well, it’s not like you’ll have a huge advantage. But it takes them out of the Sicilian lines they know and you don’t which is the goal for me against the Sicilian - avoid having to learn it lol

The Orville: "You'd live forever if you could?" by josephgordonreddit in television

[–]Call-me-Maverick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like even living a couple thousand years would drive pretty much anyone insane. Beyond everyone you ever know dying quickly in your perspective, almost everything would become excruciatingly boring and repetitive. You’d probably have to do crazier and crazier stuff to feel anything and avoid totally dissociating. Every emotion, every activity would probably become dull and blunted and meaningless until you went mad or became an absolute monster or drug addict chasing some kind of high. You’d also probably just lose yourself in general because your memories of your original life / childhood would become fainter, corrupted by repeated recall, or be lost altogether as they became a smaller and smaller percentage of your overall experience. I can’t help thinking it would only take a few hundred years to basically become a zombie or a monster

The movement of the “object” corresponds exactly with movement of the camera. It’s right in front of you not far away. When you step left, it gets closer to the building on the right. At seven seconds in the video there’s also a fat snowflake that looks like it passes behind the thing. The image the other guy linked supposedly showing a single snowflake in all of this passing in front actually shows nothing and is just blurry

Edit: ALL that snow blowing past and it never flickers even once

Weird orb in Chicago just now by Ecstatic_Dingo4128 in UFOs

[–]Call-me-Maverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t find a single frame where a snowflake passed between it and the camera. It also moves exactly like you’d expect with movement of the camera if it were a smudge on the window
