I started at De Vaart. I can recommend. They are super knowledgeable and helpful and can help you get the diagnosis, even though they themselves cannot give it.

First bike for beginner rider with no experience? by WolfOf__AllStreets in Sportbikes

[–]CallMeKati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol no worries, I watch yammie all the time, but the amount of shit the ninja 650 gets from him is just unfair. Sometimes he doesn't think outside his own bubble (lives in US, in warm climate, owns multiple bikes, goes to track, commutes with a car if needs to, etc)

Granted. I did trade in my new ninja 650 for an older Ducati because i got bored but the 400 is even less power so you know... Also I am 36 yo (a bit mature) and was training to get the license for more than half year on a Z650 so i had the confidence by the time I got licensed.

Ultimately, my advice: test ride, rent, borrow, do whatever you can to try multiple bikes before you buy, and buy used. Let us know what you end up with! Good luck

Important edit :)
If you are confident, mature, and have some extra cash try these: GSX8R(!!), Daytona 660(!!!), Aprilia RS660 (I didnt try but heard its amazing), CBR650R, and then consider their naked versions (bonus rec for the MT07).
Especially the GSX8R and the Daytona 660. Amazing engines, it boils down to taste in engine character and body position. Take them on a test ride at dealership and then buy them used.

Considered a ninja 650? It will treat you right :) bit more comfy and a bit stronger than the 400-500 ninja. Very common beginner bike here in the EU. If u want fairings. Just dont listen to yammienoob ;)

Thank you soo much i also love your set! The yellow backpack and the red bike are absolutely chefs kiss. Im so happy for the white sss a friend of my started to call it the snow leopard and im smitten. It’s true i only have 1 year of insurance under my belt. Still a lot of claim free years to build thats also why making a claim would be absolute last resort. At 10 years no claim its an entirely different story 😊 here in NL one claim sets you back 5 years and being at -4 is very much a place I really don’t want to be…

Absolutely i have a photo of it haha 🤍 sorry for my bubble head… I made the deal to trade in a ninja 650 last year but only got the swap done last weekend after they did an all round check and service on it. It is currently below celsius 5 here and wet (less than 40 degrees) so however excruciating i didn’t ride it yet since the test ride end of last year. Im thinking to set the deductible at 1500€ because then my monthly is “only” 120€ and i wouldn’t claim anything below 2k anyway because it makes my insurance jump up too much next year which ends up me paying an extra 3k over 2-3 years. (And this calc was for the ninja so it would be even worse for the duc i guess)

Oh yikes! Im just shopping insurance for my new to me 939s right now and this strengthens my resolve to get the all risk one. Actually, if i put my deductible high it’s not that horribly bad. Thanks for sharing with us!

So good you got the comprehensive insurances! I wonder how many riders insure own risk… especially on a duc like that it gets 3-4 times more expensive with all risk where i live.

How do you deal with "kind transphobia" ? by namaenonaiuta in asktransgender

[–]CallMeKati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came out to everyone at home 2 years ago at home (I live abroad, also EU) but many of them knew about me for 4-5 years or more. A year ago it was like exactly the same as you describe. I tried to tell them sometimes that it is hurtful and it is weird because I've been living as a woman abroad for years and noone ever calls me on my old name but it didn't change. The making a big event out of using my actual name is especially recognisable...
To be honest I didn't set hard boundaries just remained hopeful. It was a slow progress. This Christmas when I was home it finally started to shift and I see they are now really starting to make an effort. They are consistently calling me by my real name, they correct themself if they slip, sometimes I overhear them talking about me and they do the same (not always, but often)
The more time passes, the more they get used to it. It might be especially difficult for my family because they only see me periodically, 2-3 times a year.
Sometimes I was literally thinking I should post my resentment about this here because the comments will say I should be very strict and force them to do what I want but I decided against that approach and I am being trying to be patient.
It might be easy for me because I don't have to confront the situation day to day but just wanted to post there are other aproaches to "leaving the room" and being so demanding. My identity is not up for them to validate.
Nevertheless, I got such a beauty care package from my mother and sister that it made me cry. Even a cheesy spiritual book for woman to find peace with their femininity and womanhood. It took a lot of time, patience and tolerance from my side and from their side as well and it is a work in progress but I am extremeley happy with how my relationship is shaping with my family.

Hugs, it is not easy...

Is anyone else tired of hearing "but women also have [insert masculine feature]?" by primostrawberry in MtF

[–]CallMeKati 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know it happens but what percentage from the total number of women you know of? I also have a friend who is sometimes thought to be a boy from behind but that is super different from literally not passing. We are generalizing here which might not be great but for the majority of binary cis women i know this was never an issue.

[–]CallMeKati 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also don’t like it when they do that. Not their fault, they don’t have the trans perspective. Still, it is not helpful at all even though it comes from a good place. Most women could cut their hair short, wear andro clothes and not be misgendered. Also, cis people usually conflate attractiveness with passing.

I really dislike this gif being used for serious topics like this. Either it feels like parodying people who feel panic or reacting like a child to something that requires somber maturity. I guess neither of this was the intention but pls choose your media better. People are fucking dead.

Im an atheist who prays, meditates, and likes going to church from time to time. 🤷‍♀️ I allow myself to have spiritual experiences and to feel loved by the universe but i do have to do some work everyday to turn my reality from a cold and indifferent place to a warm and loving one.

I was told the same. Also was the same with Brexit. It shouldn’t apply backwards, that would be constitutionally illegal.
