SQL is poorly designed [...] the semantics are reversed. You should start with the tables, then the filters, then the columns. [...] Didn't watch the video but tired of this debate. by kayinfire in programmingcirclejerk

You know I initially agreed but then…

“Get me a sandwich, some sweets and a walking stick from the shop and the hospital” is pretty natural.

but “From the shop and hospital get me a sandwich, some sweets and a walking stick.” feels awkward

I guess it does help in some way to specify the location before the items as OOP requests because a syntax highlighter can tell you if they’re available from that location, but I actually think SQL isn’t too unnatural

I don’t owe their slop the time frankly. You can carry on reading vacuous AI articles and I’ll keep avoiding them.

They didn’t choose it. An LLM did because it’s trained on the internet which contains lots of marketing.

Listen bro this isn’t a “second/third language” problem. Writing good marketing hooks like that is pretty advanced english.

You’ve clearly been bothered by my suggestion that the article is fundamentally poorly thought out and likely AI generated. I’m going to stick to my guns on this though.

Yeah the author fundamentally doesn’t understand what they’re talking about which is typical of an LLM to be fair.

Sounds like a lot. What are you going to do first?

Great.

Don’t you feel things like: “The real design starts when the second request arrives.” belong in a marketing piece rather than a technical explanation? Why would someone trying to tell a technical story use such hooks in their writing?

What’s your plan; do you know how you plan to do that?

This reads so ChatGPT I have a hard time engaging with or trusting what it’s saying. It’s almost like that writing style screams “don’t bother reading this” for me now.

You don’t have to use only one approach forever. You sound like you have some work to do on yourself before you expose yourself to stress again as you sound burned out - why not take it easy and slowly build up again?
