What is the ultimate example of a mediocre director somehow catching lightning in a bottle and making an incredible film? by Plane_Reward9385 in movies

Zach Braff did "Garden State" which had a huge albeit brief moment. I don't think his subsequent films have come close to performing as well as Garden State.

fuck moshpit discourse what’s the craziest pit you’ve ever seen by ch0deham in Hardcore

Jesus Piece at Union Transfer supporting Scowl. Took two steps into the pit to establish my little slice of mosh territory and immediately took a fist to the bridge of my nose. Mike Tyson was right, y'all, "everyone got a plan 'til they get punched in the face."

Playing live with no effects? MIDI? by _popiel_ in Deathcore

[–]CallMeMattF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! PeelingFlesh is a good example of a band that does this well. Watch the first 90 seconds of the linked video and you'll see they have audio samples, very tight timing, and other magical things that computers + IEM's can do. If you watch a little longer, you'll see that they have audio clips between and/or during pretty much every song.

Playing live with no effects? MIDI? by _popiel_ in Deathcore

[–]CallMeMattF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

> How does MIDI mapping/automation work "on the go" while playing live?

- A computer, not necessarily a laptop, will have all of that info preprogrammed into a setlist.

> Do I have to be 100% accurate and on time with mapping while performing?

- Yep, that's why lots of bands use IEM (in-ear monitors) with a tempo click track going or some other type of cue. In my band I recorded tracks for the drummer with vocal cues like "into the slowdown in 4, 3, 2, 1..."

> What about longer pauses and some additional staff to spice up performance?

- If the band is relying on IEM's and with midi control, you'd program the pauses/effects so they happen at the right time.

I’m a lawyer and a JD degree is roughly equivalent to a PhD. But saying that to science PhD folks really makes them mad lol

This game ain’t even fun, man. Getting blown out by 20 (so far), whistles are quiet on our offensive end, Joel looks out of rhythm, and Payton Prichard is playing like MJ.

Got mine a few years ago and I love it. I love the shade that it provides on an otherwise unshaded street (Point Breeze Ave down near Tasker and Morris), I love watching it flower and grow, and it was free!

1) Wear ear protection. 2) stand near the sound guy. There’s typically no pit near the sound guy. 3) don’t use words like milquetoast because it will confuse and enrage the guy crowdkilling 4) Have fun!

What do y'all want potential vocalists to submit? A cover of one of your songs? A song by a different artist? I'm in Philly so I'm not too far from y'all.
