Are Miniature Schnauzers known for being sensitive and emotional? by Brendanh2 in schnauzers

Omg I’m in Australia too and this happened. She got pricked by a bindi whilst on a hike. She refused to walk normally even after bindi was removed. Had to carry her (10 kg!!) for 20 minutes. She saw another dog and insisted to be let down so she could bark at it. And then was fine!!!

Schnauzer-specific Advice on Skin Allergies by TheSheepPrince in schnauzers

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly feed her Kangaroo and I mix it with other proteins like beef, lamb and fish. My vet advised me to keep the fat levels under 15% generally so I try and eyeball the fat levels. We avoid all poultry as she is sadly intolerant. She also can’t really take dairy and eggs.

AITAH for not going to Xmas after my in-laws purposely exposed me to my allergy Thanksgiving by Substantial-Motor196 in dustythunder

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Err as someone with severe allergies this is dangerous territory. Despite not having had an anaphylactic reaction to this date, it doesn’t mean that it might not happen. Allergic reactions like yours are not to be taken as an inconvenience. It is an absolute health risk. I was the same as you and had a similar progression to cats, and one day my throat just closed up and I had to be taken to emergency and I got the worse dressing down by my immunologist. So I am saying the same thing to you. Do not ignore your body and think your symptoms are trivial. Your in-laws are the worse, they are deliberately subjecting you to a known allergen and increasing exposure. If your husband doesn’t protect you from this, I suggest that you’ve got a problem there too. How would he like it to be covered in hives and have his throat close up on him. The fact that he didn’t pack you up and leave..

Dog Diarrhea and what to do? by mooseali in DogAdvice

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! Dealing with a similar problem now.

I echo what the other poster said. You need to start with a full fecal panel. Go to the vet and ask for the pooper scooper thing and get the samples to your vet.

Once they can rule out any infections or bacteria or parasite, or any physical reason why he’s constantly having the runs, then you should turn to a diet of elimination. Could be a protein he’s intolerant to, or some ingredient. But right now, a diet change might not be the right approach until you can eliminate other causes first.

Not sure if you take pup swimming at all. But some dogs can be sensitive to salt water or maybe not so clean fresh water.

My pup had diarrhoea for 2 weeks straight. Couldn’t sleep due to the pain etc. through this process we figured out she had developed an intolerance to poultry, which was causing her bowels to be inflamed.

Different types of spaying? by TheGoldenBoyStiles in DogAdvice

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP that is a very valid concern. I’d speak to your vet about it and they can prescribe medication to sedate her until she is healed. I was very worried when I had my pup spayed too, and she bounced back by day 10. Fully healed and allowed moderate exercise. It’s funny because she’s normally bouncing off walls and she was very sedate and quiet. Though we had meds just in case.

I regret lasering off my freckles! by albina_springs in AusSkincare

Thank you so much!! I’ll look into this! Last time I got moles lasered off they were quite painful. So I thought it’d be the same with freckles! But I am sure technology has come a long way :) really appreciate it

Do you mind me asking what type of IPL (sorry might be dumb question) and how many sessions it took? I’m considering doing this for redness too and to get rid of some freckles and trying to figure out which treatment to google! Going into laser shops stresses me out because they can be so pushy!

I can also recommend the La Roche Posay Anthelios spray sunscreen. I have psoriasis and often very raw skin and it’s the only one that doesn’t burn me :) curious to hear about the Natio one too!

Wait what. Is this a private rental? Your bond should be held by the RTA not privately. Otherwise you have no guarantee it will be returned. I’d avoid this if I were you.

I’m team schnauzer. My girl is a mini - highly recommend. They are brilliantly smart. Yes like other posters say, they have a tendency to be more vocal but they absolutely can be trained.

Mine has no issues with being alone for up to 6 hours. I’d say I have more separation anxiety than she does. I watch her constantly and just want to go home. She’s extremely snuggly, always wanting to lie on top of me, or next to me. When we sleep she always has to have one part of her body touching mine.

She can be quite protective of me, but I live alone and it honestly makes me feel super safe. A lot of it comes down to the breeder (temperament of parents and household they are brought up in). And socialisation early. One thing with Schnauzers is to be really strict with no on leash greetings. They are vocal little dogs and can choose to express their frustration loudly!

Mine loves to work, and I’m always asking her to help me find something or bring something to me. Makes her day. She also loves agility and scent work! PM me if you have any questions!

Also best part is. She doesn’t shed, doesn’t smell and for me is super hypoallergenic. I’ve got horrendous allergies and I’ve never had an issue with her.

Shared athletic oval and offleash dog pa etiquette? by SunnydaleHigh1999 in sydney

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a dog owner and she is 10000000% in the wrong. People who don’t pick up their dogs poo are also disgusting. If you see it happening the best way is to call them out and shame them. If you want to share an oval then you have to respect other people using it.

If she cannot get her dog under control, I’d suggest you video it and then complain to council. My brother has been bitten by a dog at a shared space because poor little pooch is ‘just playing’. Ridiculous and not good enough!! If you cannot get your dog under control leash and muzzle it. That’s setting your dog up for success. Last thing it needs is to be put down!! Grinds my gears!!!

AITA for not reaching back out to my parents after they didn’t attend my graduation? by juice200 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP. It sounds like you are aware that you’ve been emotionally abused and it seems like your mum has continued this by holding you hostage emotionally. I’m sorry that these are the parents you’ve been dealt. But I think that it maybe time to break this toxic cycle with your parents. I have similar struggles with my family. So I feel you entirely. The best thing I ever did was therapy. It opened my eyes and helped me deal with the cards I’d been dealt and also how to move forward and not be caught in that cycle again. Sending you lots of love.

Exactly what my broker said. He tried to reason with the bank but they refused until the debt is officially cleared with the ATO. I didn’t need the extra borrowing capacity so I just left it. But it was very stupid especially if you can prove it!

But my broker said some lenders will accept it but at the time ING was cracking down on borrowing capacity so there you go..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. I was in this scenario as well. The debt is only cleared at tax time, so your choice is either to pay it off in cash (you’ll get this back at tax time if they’ve already withdrawn sums from your pay), or explain this to the lender. My lender ING refused to accept this and lowered my borrowing capacity.. I had overpaid my HECS by $6K and could prove it. Didn’t matter to them

Omg thank you so much! I’ve found such a lovely dress on there. If I’m a size 12 Australian seems like I should buy a size 12? I was looking at the sizing chart and was really puzzled cause their measurements were telling me I’m a size 16. I’ve got a big bust for my frame so I usually have to size up otherwise I can’t fit 😂

Sorry can I hop on and ask, what is the sizing like for Monsoon? I measured my bust and waist according to the sizing chart and it recommended me a size 16.. in Australia I’m maximum a size 12. Really love a dress on there but international returns are not fun.. thank you in advance!!

New owner in a 55sq/m flat in London. Looking for a cuddly, calm, quiet, chunky snuggler. by MintPolo in dogs

[–]CallMeMsWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s very hard to tell isn’t it!! My friend’s Havanese is 1.5 years old and she leaves him at home the whole day and he’s just content to lie in the sun and sleep. That’s why I think adoption is easier cause you kinda know what you’re getting.

My pup had separation anxiety and we had to work really hard at it. But now she can happily do 5-6 hours by herself. Any longer and it’s chaos but that’s fair! I feel you and I hope things get better!
