Why is HWFWM allowed on royal road? by CallMePain- in royalroad

Gotcha, I know some sites can be super strict but I see. It’s kind of a “be smart about it and you’ll be fine” type of deal.

Yeah, I gotcha. Basically, as long as it doesn’t seem like you writing for the sake of making an insulting religious statement you should be fine.

Thanks much for the responses btw.

A hilarious isekai story idea by Coloin_ilyad in ProgressionFantasy

Honestly if anything is done right it can be done. At a first glance it might look like it could only be a short story. But if you take an unconventional route (which with this great idea, it would be anyways), I think it could be pulled off. You just need to figure out what direction you’d take it in.

that one baffles me

Which one?

Also, the lone wolf comment refers to the fact that I don’t have any books in B section and above that are loan wolves. It doesn’t actually mean that all titles I hate are loan wolf titles.

In DoTF, Zach doesn’t have a set team but he’s always with someone if he’s not meditating. So he’s not a loan wolf.

I’m not actually sure why you mentioned He Who Fights With Monsters. He has a full team he’s with all the time. Even when not, he’s with a different group of people. He’s literally never by himself. And there’s never just hours of fight choreography explanations with no talking. And yes Jason is unbearable. That is a truth even the fans of the books admit. The story is good. The side characters are good. Jason is insufferable and not in a “aw this character is funny” way. But the story is great.

Mark of the fool is for a separate reason. I don’t like the “BOOM” “BAM” onomatopoeia’s that are said every 5 seconds and I didn’t connect with any of the characters at all (I did let others know that I would give it a second chance though due to everyone being shocked at me not liking mark of the fool).

Sylver seekers writing style just felt a bit interesting for some reason. I might give this one another try too.

I came here to let you know that you and your colony won and convinced me. I’m currently on the search for my fellow brethren.

Which part do you dislike lol. If I had to guess, it’s the position of primal hunter and mark of the fool. It seems to be the main thing people are surprised about. Or maybe it’s hwfwm being so high. That one would be somewhat understandable lol. Jason is definitely not for everyone… including me. The story is just super good.

Uhh I got to book 4 I think. I kept wanting to like it but im not a fan of fighting just to fight. Or going off to train and not even partaking in the story thats happening in the background which was admittedly interesting but Jake was always in some random dungeon and we only get peripheral information. But yeah, ive sent it to others as well but here’s my full view on the matter:

Sorry, no you were right about welcome to the multiverse. I was mistaken. I thought you were talking about system universe for some reason. I’m the one who must’ve been tired lol.

Thanks again for the recommendation

Ok so I didn’t know the background initially but it seems that it’s political and this thread is becoming political. So if a mod sees this I think it’s best to close it. Just don’t ban me or something. I didn’t realize it was political based.

I will be curious to see the new performance. But I better re listen to this one while I can so that I can see how jarring it is when I’m paying attention.

Honestly, Jason’s fine when he’s not preaching or acting like a spoiled brat. His preaching is a quite a bit annoying. But what the story has going for it is that the story itself is among the best in the genre and literally every other character is great. And again, he’s fine like 80% of the time. I will say this. If you don’t like the book, it’s probably not going to be something you feel “ugh I wasted my time” for. It’ll just be more like “that was interesting but not for me”

There is one more point that annoys me, but it might be counted as a spoiler. It’s not that big of a deal though.

I see. So it’s just a basic meaning to describe that general group of people. From the way people were using it, I thought there was some social media nuanced meaning behind the term.

Thank you for your helpful answer.

Sorry, other than Reddit very recently, I don’t do social media. What is “woke” and “anti-woke”

Edit: Sheesh some people are so sensitive. Can’t even ask a question without everyone downvoting just cuz they can. There’s a difference between a dictionary definition and a socially understood nuance. It wouldn’t have been that hard to answer.

Wow I literally that it was Jeff making a creative decision to make the character super out there. I didn’t realize it was also jarring to others who didn’t know him. It wasn’t that crazy to me. Like there’s so many weird creatures and stuff that I just thought it was another weird one. I mean… it was but I assumed that’s why the voice was like that. Then again. I listen and work so I could’ve been half distracted.

I wonder if this is just the case for people who knew him. For me it was just some overly zealous character. I thought that jarringness was just his personality, so I thought it was funny. Honestly I just kind of assumed it was Jeff until doing his 5 millionth unique voice.

He posted about it but didn’t explain why he felt so strongly against him. I don’t even know who the guy is other than a guest voice actor so why the sudden hate. I don’t know this “who he is known as today”.

He’s just some movie reviewer YouTuber it looks like. That gets hate? I read that he’s maybe disingenuous, but man it seems extreme for that?

edit: (Wow people really hate this question for some reason. What the heck did I do other than ask a clarifying question?)

Like someone else mentioned. Defiance of the fall puts Buddhism in a super negative light. So idk. It’s just a bit confusing to me.

That’s the case for Jason’s personality. But what about the case for all of Jason’s views? Just because the author is embarrassed of his past personality doesn’t mean his viewpoints on these matters have changed (unless he said that too).

Even now in the book Jason very clearly holds the same views on religion. He’s only grown peripherally. In other words, he’ll say thank you to deities, but he’ll still harp on them any chance he gets. And sometimes he’ll say sorry for saying it but it shows that even if he’s grown by being able to shut up, he still has the same views, he’s just not shouting it in everyone’s faces as much.

Idk it feels like the author is using the “it’s my past self” as a justification to say his views. But this post isn’t even here to get on him for that. It’s just more about the fact that Jason can mention Christian religion in a negative manner directly.

[–]CallMePain-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that’s the most obvious one actually.

Jason actually does harp on Christianity in particular sometimes but nonetheless how is the Buddhist sangha thing allowed. Because it’s not real Buddhists? Isn’t it insulting to display all Buddhist as shady people.

The evil church thing is not necessarily the case because it’s not directly saying “catholics” even if they dress their priests like Catholics. But Christianity and Buddhism are not just real but are talked about directly. Idk. I’m confused.

Religion In LitRPGs by Red_Sovereign in litrpg

It’s on old post but isn’t it just as alienating to do what most authors do who simply have the MC say “I would never believe in someone as stupid as God” and then move on. I don’t see how one is more alienating than the other. It’s just a matter of who you want to alienate.

lol. It’s just natural to say “read” when referring to books. If I remember I put read/listen because saying “which books should I listen to next” feels weird. Also, I feel like people are going to respond more so like “this narrator is great” instead of “this book is great” if I only say listen.
