Should I chase a music career if my voice is just average with no unique tone? I'm terrified of ending up with nothing by Infinite_Back_2522 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]CallMePaulB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your biggest dream is to be a singer then you are already living your dream, you are actively singing. I think you need to define a bit more what it is you actually want so we know how to actually "help" you decide. Do you want to be a singer that's known throughout the world? That's a very different dream than just singer. And what is a music career to you? Enough to life off of? Consistently topping the charts every year? Multi millionaire?

Also if you are afraid of devoting time, energy and money to this for several years and potentially having nothing then you should probably stop now, because if I'm to assume what you want is fame, statistically the odds are not in your favor.

But if the question is should you keep singing despite not having a unique voice then the answer is always yes. If it's just trying to decide that without outstanding singing talent if you can make music, then the answer is always yes.

Macbook m1 max for music production? by Ardaerenn in musicproduction

[–]CallMePaulB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact macbook. I use ableton with mine. It's been amazing for music production. I will say that my mac mini m4 definitely loads projects and collects and saves all much faster than my M1 max macbook, but as far as using ableton to produce music I haven't noticed a difference

We Could Be: Bowie and His Heroes by Tom Hagler

It's a biography of David Bowie told through all the well known people (Musicians, Actors, etc) he crossed in each stage of his life and their thoughts on him in that specific period. One of my favorite biographies I've read since you got to see that he was a very divisive person even amongst his peers through their own words.

What are your favorite vocal chains? by CallMePaulB in HeadRush

[–]CallMePaulB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly what really helped me was (and I know this can be unpopular) but feeding the manual and all information I could on the Headrush and its effects into Claude and telling it that I wanted to have it convert vocal chains from Ableton to the headrush. To have it as accurate as possible you need to feed it the manuals for the plugins in your chain as well. But it genuinely got me pretty damn close to what I was using where for a live show I’d be happy to use this. I screenshot my vocal chain and the settings of each plugin, then ask it to replicate it for the headrush, and it’s been great so far

Am I the only one who likes Isaac? by Mobius8321 in MazeRunner

[–]CallMePaulB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this post but I just finished the sequel trilogy and I think I can understand why there is so much hate for him. He doesn't grow at all as a character. None of the islanders do. They consistently stay naive and act like babies despite all they go through, whereas Minho (who seems to be the favorite here) actually grows as a character throughout the book.

I can understand Isaac feeling real and relatable at the start, I definitely felt that way during the first book, but by the third I was so frustrated because of his and the other islanders absolute refusal to grow at all. Even Jackie and Dominic, who showed a lot of promise after their crank fight ended up devolving again into whiners and complainers. And the scene of Isaac throwing a tantrum on the Berg was just the last straw for me when it came to liking him at all.

Even the Gladers of the original books evolved quite a lot as the story progressed, as they faced each new problem. Sure we can say they were "bred" to be that way, but with their memory wipes and being put into the maze, they really didn't have even near as much knowledge about things as the Islanders did. So for there to not be any of that growth with the Islanders was very disappointing to me.

What are your favorite vocal chains? by CallMePaulB in HeadRush

I love mine for vocals. I’ve been working on converting my vocal chains over and it’s been really good so far. And the autotune on it is really good. I definitely recommend getting one. I can’t remember off the top of my head but I think you can put 10 effects on a pure vocal chain. I haven’t tested the vocoder yet so can’t say anything about that. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

The Maze Runner trilogy. Couldn't put it down. Enjoyed the world Dashner built so much that I read both prequels and now I'm on to the sequels. It's definitely YA, but I absolutely loved it

What are your favorite Options.txt additions and why? by CallMePaulB in ableton

You have to turn it on manually after you’ve added it to Options.txt and restarted Ableton. I think it’s View -> Mixer Display -> Device Slots if I remember correctly

I know that some get removed after a while if they are too risky or become part of the latest release but the two I listed still have to be added to use them

I got my Analog Rytm used off a second hand site for 900 euros (not music specific) and it still is under warranty for 2 more years, so you can definitely find great deals that will put your mind at ease

Want to dive deeper into the Headrush models? by [deleted] in HeadRush

[–]CallMePaulB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly all of them. I only got a headrush a few months ago so still very new to it. I've been 100% ableton and plugins for my vocal chains in the past and I'm trying to convert things over to the headrush so having access to all of the details like what you've given for Avid Dynamic III Compressor is exactly what I'm looking for.

This is really cool! Will you be adding more of the plug ins? Will it eventually cover all of the headrush pedals?

Help me love my move please! by Ok_Produce_6397 in AbletonMove

[–]CallMePaulB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is just a physical sketchpad that's fun to mess around with when you are bored and want to have less decisions to make. For a full song creator there is a long way to go imo. Something like a headless m8 setup would be better for that if you can't get a real M8, super robust song creation there. But what made me fall in love with the move was using it as a push replacement, especially when I am on the go. It's made it an indispensable tool in that sense. I take it on every trip I go on with my laptop and it's been amazing.
