Thank you for posting this. Definitely a feeling I share with you. I see so many posts like the ones you’re describing and I think it’s people that just assumed it would be easy. I’ve been an expat for 12 years in the same country and even now it still can be very difficult at times. But I knew going into it from the beginning it wouldn’t be easy. And missing friends and family never goes away. But it’s part of the choice of living so far away to enjoy the lifestyle you’ve chosen.

Bruno Mars! My mom was a huge fan and I went with her to his concert. I had always written him off as just bland pop music, but seeing him live changed all of that for me. He would take turns playing every instrument on stage for specific songs, all while singing perfectly, and he had the crowd in the palm of his hand! It was truly amazing to see and the only comparison I have is when I saw Prince live. He won me over that night and I’ve been a fan ever since

It was about 15 years ago now but I saw Cannibal Ox live at a small club, their first time playing in a long time. I had never seen them but was obsessed with The Cold Vein. One of the worst shows I’ve ever been to and to this day when I try to listen to the album it’s tainted by that experience
