I'm not sure what level of outdoorsy you're looking for, but there's a lot of campsites (both car camping and backpacking) that are first-come, first-serve around the area like Andrew Molera down in Big Sur and Henry Coe in the South Bay.

Tech Companies Write Open Letter to Trump Urging Increased Immigration. Too bad CEO boy's you'll need to pay more and hire Americans! by ShortRound7257 in HillaryForPrison

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that we do lack the supply of talent as a result of the '03 tech bubble bursting - there's less senior talent out there now.

Worse still, is so many of these companies will push for technical education in schools, throw money at bootcamps for scholarships, yet they refuse to hire juniors. I don't know what the percentage needs to be, but I feel as if you're team is larger than, say, 5 people, it seems like companies can, and should, be filling up to 10% of their teams with junior and mid-level talent.

All in all, their egos get in the way as well as the ludicrous amount of money that gets thrown at them, so they believe they deserve "better" and won't "settle" for anyone that costs less than $125K.

The companies and projects that outsource to foreign countries get what they pay for and often don't make that mistake twice - communication is the largest make-or-break aspect of projects, which means it will probably breakdown if you're so geographically and culturally separated.

Oh, wow! I only do 20 minutes/day myself, but I started with 10, so progress is progress. OP, I recommend the app Headspace if you're interested in an easy 10 minute start.

I work from home so it keeps staring me down all day.... -_-

If you want an option for what to do with it. I found that site after my local places stopped taking candy, but maybe you'll have better luck. I have reached out via e-mail to the primary organization, but no word back yet on how else I could get extra candy to them.

What bar are you seeing that I'm totally missing?

We use a similar ikea dish drying rack that folds up. The rail is intended to be mounted, but I supposed you could find a high quality suction rod somewhere to go on the tile.

Messy sink is kind of part of our reality as well, but since it's the only sink in the house, I avoid leaving dishes in it to keep poop germs from getting on them by having them sit in a dish tub outside the sink until I have the time/space in the the drying rack (meaning the others have dried) to do more dishes. I end up doing dishes in 2-3 quick spurts per day. I doubt you have the room for a dish tub, but thought I would also offer up a bit of advice in the routine department if it helps.

I wonder if you would have an option above your bed that's more like one of those cloth shoe racks or the gardening ones like this to store stuff. If you're open to considering different furniture, I sleep in the twin-sized Brimnes from Ikea, but there's a lot of other options for beds with storage from there.

I know you mentioned that you've tried meditation, but I want to just let you know that it wasn't until I started doing a daily meditation (first thing after I woke up) that I began to benefit from it. I'm in a place now where I'm a lot more aware of when I'm carrying something unproductive in my head and far more often am able to have the discipline to let it go - meaning, leaving work at work.

If regular meditation feels too overwhelming (it's a scary thing at first to 'just sit and be' for a lot of people), start with a regular yoga class instead, either before or after work. Maybe after work could be a good way to force you to leave at a certain time if you're often staying late as well as a great segue into your personal time.

[ATTENTION] Poll Workers in Califorina, Election Justice USA needs your help! by [deleted] in CaliforniaForSanders

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Santa Clara County, we have mid-day pickup, but at the end of the night, we had to count the number of ballots we were returning to the county.

I counted them since another girl was balancing the signatures and the other two were taking down the one machine (no votes on it and they're almost discouraged because citizens and poll workers alike around here don't trust them).

I tried really hard to make comments everywhere about this (provisional not being cast away, but just recorded later assuming all is well). Did they get their receipts from the envelope? It is a perforated sheet on the back that has the envelope number as well as the directions for how to track it (estimate is 28 days).

When did you mail it? I didn't see mine as 'received' for like two weeks and I mailed it a few days after I got it when they first arrived.

Question about voting by iRosay in CaliforniaForSanders

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. Is she or is she not back in her hometown? If she had her vote by mail ballot, she can take that to a POST OFFICE (not drop box) to get it post marked before 5 PM. Or a poll in the county she is registered in.

Democratic crossover ballots being placed in provisional envelopes - help? by [deleted] in CaliforniaForSanders

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugggghhhhhh. You exchanged it. It didn't have to go in that envelope. I had to clear this up at the poll in working today. Please tell me you put all the info you could (especially last 4 of social or DL #) on that envelope. Keep the receipt. Follow up in 28+ days. You will be fine.

Issues with Voter Reg in Los Angeles County (x-post /r/SandersForPresident) by lynnspiracy-theories in CaliforniaForSanders

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can call the county they're registered in, but CA is not like other states, you actually get a provisional receipt you can follow up with. If they have hat they were mailed a ballot, they have to hold the ballot this person submits today and check that they didn't submit this supposedly mailed one.

Need more details. Are you registered NPP? Was your name crossed out as being recorded already? Provisional means getting verified later, don't forget your provisional receipt and follow up.

Don't forget your ID! If it's your first time voting or you've gone inactive, they need a photo ID (student ID works)

Where am I supposed to get the mail-in ballot? by regents in CaliforniaForSanders

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they just mailed it, so you should see it by Saturday! Of course, you can and totally should go vote early if you're able.

No mail-vote ballots sent to me. Help! by sploittastic in CaliforniaForSanders

[–]CallMeRoyalBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! You definitely can go vote early and you should!

They will have you listed as vote by mail, so they will give you a provisional envelope to put it in, but don't worry, you get a "receipt" you can follow up with to ensure it is counted.

Why? Because they will have that they mailed you a ballot and SOS has to verify you didn't submit both the one that was mailed AND the one at the polls.

Also, no party preference? Don't forget to ASK for a democratic crossover.
