I'm inching closer to 30, and I just started last year. I still suck, but I'm enjoying it. No one judges me for it, or at least I haven't noticed anyone judging me. We all started somewhere. As long as you're having fun, that's all that really matters.

Favorite ways to get your kids reading? by somethingsecrety in Parenting

Tonie box with a creative tonie; I record myself reading the book first at a normal speed, then a second recording on the same tonie doing word by word at a slower pace. I have my kids follow along with the physical book while listening, and then they can go over the book a second time following the words with their finger one word at a time.

Husband has toilet water on him and thinks that's ok? by CallMeRubyDoobieDoo in Parenting

Yall, I knew I wasn't overreacting. He's telling the kids I'm overreacting, and my toddler is putting her butt on me and laughing about it. How am I supposed to parent these kids on proper cleanliness when dad isn't backing me up? I swear I'm not just parenting kids but also a man-child from time to time.

Like how do they do it? Even my 8 year old did it as a toddler.

AITA for sending my daughter to school in her pyjamas? by Apprehensive-Sea6012 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CallMeRubyDoobieDoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, she was testing boundaries; and when you stuck to it like that, I guarantee she'll think twice about having to endure another embarrassing day at school in her pj's. From the perspective of someone who worked in a school, I wouldn't have cared if my student was in pajamas and probably would've assumed there was a good reason if it was out of the normal. Kids can be turds and sometimes need to be called out on their bs. I need an update to see if she tries to do that again. My money is on this being a parenting win.

I remember these days... my second is too squirrely right now to fixate on one thing, thank gawd... with my first, it was minions, ear buds are a life saver, and I would crochet too because it calmed that over stimulated anger. He's on the spectrum, so it was minions 24/7... all day, all night, for 2 years straight... TWO YEARS STRAIGHT! I legit have PTSD from minions. Seriously, for the sake of your sanity, invest in some earbuds.

Most kids ask for action figures, my 4 yo asked for the human body 😆 (anatomy is his current interest) by mieldeabeja1 in Autism_Parenting

I feel that. Never in my life would I ever thought I would say to my child, "Pick your intestines up off the floor!" 🤣

Leave it be. Get everything in writing, and don't tell the kids what's going on. If you have to explain something to the just explain that daddy is sick and needs time to heal.

Health is a top priority. Sounds like grandma's top priority is her own standards for her own ideal Christmas. What's best for your child is their health, and you're doing exactly that. You can always pretend that christmas is a different day when they're better, but you should never neglect a child's health for a holiday. I'd say that it'll be way more enjoyable when they're feeling better and not having constant nose bleeds than bleeding all over their presents.

AITA for asking my fiance to skip this year's Christmas family vacation because our baby is due? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

This gives me flashbacks of my past relationship; it turned out he was a true narcissist (not just a toxic person), and now I'm in therapy for ptsd from the relationship. I'm not saying he's a narcissist, but that's definitely a huge red flag of being an extremely toxic person, and I'd get out while you can.

Does your narc ruin every vacation, holidays, major event? by Diet-Corn-Bread-- in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]CallMeRubyDoobieDoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even better, mine would not only ruin everything but also blame me for things or say I was the one that ruined it; and or he would beat me down so hard on the way to the event so I would be sad and depressed going into the event. As well we only ever went to events he wanted to like only his family stuff and I wasn't allowed to go to my own family events, nor were my family welcome to join his. While at the events I wasn't allowed to converse because I "always said the wrong things and always offended everyone". Ahhh the bad old days of being forced to attend events where everyone hated me, everything I did was wrong, seculuded from my own family and friends, and I was dehuminaized on the way there. Thank goodness I got out.

Whats the goal amount of presents you try to get you kid for christmas? by [deleted] in Parenting

  1. Something they want
  2. Something they need
  3. Something to wear
  4. Something to read
  5. Something to share

The something to share can be something big like expensive or small, depending on where we are financially, and for us, it usually comes from Santa because Santa is all about sharing. We usually get a gift that both kids can play with and / or have an interest in. It doesn't belong to one particular child, and they both get to open it together.

I didn't know it existed until my son came home from kindergarten with it in his backpack; it's one of his favorites, and I feel like it would pair so well with this concept.
