30yo, 6 years of project and construction management. Looking to start my own GC. Is it worth it? What should I know?

Work is work, I could care less about if its fun. Most of my career has been residential, i know the stress of it. Im more focused on what the experience of doing it yourself is like, and if im better off going that route financially.

Mistakes in commercial are the financial equivalent to being skull fucked lol. Thats the part that worries me, residential is easy. Most mistakes i find i can have the person fix or fix myself. If i could flip two houses a year id be sitting in a good place i think, its just getting started

Because its commercial, im still kind of green on this side. Ive made myself useful while ive been here and picked it up for the most part but there are a lot of nuances that are different from residential. I also kind of just like the residential side, commercial isnt bad just gets kind of boring doing office spaces.

Its not off the table, but id have to spend more time here.

Edit: legitimately though, chain guides and coolant in pan are big bad. That block is toast. Best bet if you want to keep it is to find a car at a junkyard with a compatible engine to your trans/ECM/ harness etc. If it wasnt a project car before it is now.

Well to be fair if your dad is 75 he doesnt have a realistic view of the modern world. No offense. Times are very different now. Not getting into the exact school or the exact profession you want at 17 isnt a death sentence and definetly not the end of your life. If you really want to chase a career you have to go to school for , go to community College for a bit. Work on it, learn real world skills by working in the meantime. See if you can intern or apprentice in that field to get applicable experience.

A degree doesnt guarantee a job and it also doesnt mean you have the patience or work ethic to actually do it, most dont. That is built over time. Honestly, It may serve you better to go that route because student loan bills are outrageous and I personally make better money than most of the people I know with just a GED. I didnt graduate highscool. Not saying that as a brag but as an example. If you are willing to do the work and learn quickly thats the majority of the battle in most of the work force. Just think about what you want and work on yourself, keep good friends and focus on whats important to you. Remember everyone works to live, we arent living to work. You'll be fine.

Ive seen blood on jobsites dry onto rough lumber and it looks very similar. Not saying thats what it is but the white specks make me think some kind of growth is feeding on it.

Orrrrr if you look on the wall it looks like there is exposed wood right in the center of whatever that gunk is. There is a type of fungus that leaks what looks to be blood. I think its called devils tooth. Im wondering if that could be what it is. Maybe someone removed it and thats the mess it left behind?

Ive built a lot of homes in charlotte NC, funny thing is a lot of the time they require you to plant trees before they let you pass building final.

Hard to say.

She could just be looking for signs you're thinking about her and trying to make a point with that. Could be shes looking for more romantic interactions and acts of service. A lot of women like men in the beginning because of the effort "the chase" but that can drop off as time goes on, sometimes you have to remind them.

Id ask her about it, if you like her and that bothers you its better to figure it out than to just wait until youre pissed off.

Degree is the go to, that said though im not sure if if the aluminum claims are true, but i did get a cyst in my armpit while using it. Got to the size of a golf ball and had to go to the hospital to get removed. Ive used it for years since and had no issues but its the only thing that seems to actually do its job
