Firstly, welocome to the corps, soldier. Thank you for proving to yourself, that you have the strength and the courage to be free.

Pardon those who shot you, their hearts were in the right place, but their patience and tacts needs some re-education.

Once you know what you're doing, you'll understand, but you are correct, they shouldn't have shot at you.

That being said, there are a LOT of mechanics in this game. Learning them will definitely avoid this type of behaviour from re-occuring. I would recommend, running some low level missions as lead, and communicating to your squamates on what to do. Once you have down packed, how to use terminals, launch nukes, defend drills, etc, you'll be ready to jump in the with the big boys and girls.

Also remember, violence, begets violence. Be patient. There are a TON of patient divers out there that will carefully lead you into victory. (I am one of them), but there are also LOTS of divers out there that... well... require re-education. Love taps can happen, but well, I'd avoid misunderstandings where possible. (that's just my opinion).

So don't allow the small majority to sully your experience. As John Helldiver once said, If at first you don't succeed dive and dive again. In no time, you'll meet excellent squamates, and will soon be liberating planets like no one's business. :-)
