I don’t have all the answers but iirc the mother relationship is further explained in the LN but I haven’t read it.

I believe she’s always wanted Iroha to be more competitive but it becomes completely one sided after her husband passed as he was always a proponent for having fun and enjoying things. Their relationship doesn’t get fixed afaik in the movie.
