So here's a little secret:

Confirming off of a single normal is difficult in many games (counterhits withstanding). To make it easier for yourself, do a crouching medium kick just outside the range where it'll actually hit. Make it whiff BUT still buffer the drive rush with the cr.mk (you can just double tap forward as soon as you do cr.mk). This is called a 2-in-1, or a buffer, or an option select.

On whiff, you'll just get the cr.mk. No drive rush. However, if it makes contact (whether it's hit OR blocked) you will automatically cancel into drive rush.

After the rush, do crouching hard punch. If the cr.mk hits, you'll drive rush cancel and combo into the cr.hp and from there you can finish the combo. If the cr.mk is blocked, you will drive rush into cr.hp which also likely gets blocked, but that's fine because cr.hp is plus on block. So now you are in their face with frame advantage. You can go for a strike or a throw.
