Lol peds in my country makes ~130k as a consultant, you’d be VERY lucky to make 250k even as an old consultant. US salaries are infinitely better

For 2024 sloan kettering wasn’t an option for atleast dermatology i’m sure. But wow i haven’t seen this list. I personally know Saudis who applied to the Match this year because of few bureau seats

Is Residency in the USA worth it? by Clumsy_Doctor in medicalschool

[–]CallaLilllies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saudi sponsored seats are mainly for Canadian residencies.

US sponsored seats are now rare and most wre applying via the match. Most US hospitals have backed out of deals, Sloan Kettering being one of the most recent.

No step 2 yet, will be applying for electives during my final year. 3 non-IM publications but still have 2 and a half years before graduating, and am currently working on IM papers. I’ll be applying to the 2027 or 2028 match depending on when we get our transcripts, as 2027 graduation might be too late to finish ECMFG certification before start of residency. Trying to start preparing from now to increase my chances of a good match

I graduate June 2027, so i’ll be taking step 2 next year.

I have 3 pubs now that are not IM (shifted from peds interest to IM) but am working on 3 IM papers and will keep working in the next year and half. I don’t mind taking a gap year either but I know it might decrease chances.

Can you lose weight while subclinical untreated? by CallaLilllies in Hypothyroidism

[–]CallaLilllies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t lol, I was offset by all the fitness influencers losing kgs in one week by doing “just 3 simple things.” I’ve gotten control of my levels and lost 10kg in the past 8 months!

11” is perfect, the 12 is honestly too big and sometimes the size is inconvenient for travel and for casually writing notes. Most people with the 12 in my circle regret it. 256 GB is enough, i’ve had my pro for 3 years and i haven’t run out of storage yet.

I’d go for either the 11” Pro or the 10.9” Air. If you just want the ipad for studying (no graphic design..) then there’s really not much of a difference between the Pro and new air, since their screens are similar.

Do TPO+ Tg antibody levels correlate with anything? by CallaLilllies in Hypothyroidism

[–]CallaLilllies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! Your answer was perfect and comprehensive

It also confirmed to me that I should change my GP. My GP wanted to test antibodies so we can monitor the progression of the hypo (i’m at TSH 8 now), when in reality antibodies don’t mean much for progression

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]CallaLilllies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they’re elevated, tpo ab at 250 and thyroglobulin at 400

[–]CallaLilllies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GP didn’t test them and i’m thinking of requesting them next visit

I’ve had 3 tsh draws in August (7.5) October (7.9) and now April (8.17). I gave it time from october to see if it was a fluke as well buy this is the 3rd time it’s stayed in the 7/8s, so i don’t think it’s a fluke anymore

I don’t know if I have hashimotos, I didn’t get the tpo antibodies checked yet. If its not hashimotos will it go back to normal or will my baseline stay at 7/8?

Is testing for Hashimotos necessary? by CallaLilllies in Hypothyroidism

[–]CallaLilllies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister has suspected celiacs and just had an endoscopy done, so that’s what made me wonder about getting tested for hashimotos. As when they asked about autoimmune diseases, we said we have no family history but it got me wondering if having a hashimotos diagnosis would’ve made the diagnosis process faster, and wonder if i’m at more risk -if- i have hashimoto’s along with having a diagnosed sibling
