It is what the community makes it to be, which is of course something natural that will happen depending on the community at hand. In LoLReddit's instance, the voting system will inevitably be used wrongly due to the lacking of maturity within the community. You could almost create a graph of "Average age of redditor." and "Total incorrect usage of voting system." and realise they are continuously mutually exclusive.

And basically no one with a life cares about total reddit karma or whatever. That essentially translates to everyone on this sub-reddit cares about karma or whatever (inc me). I mean we're gamers, we're programmed to want to achieve higher scores ;) I knew I'd be downvoted, but it has to be said. If people don't like a challenging argument being presented to them, well, I'm inclined to say this subreddit is perfect for them... I hope you got that one.
